Default [2005-04-19] Blackberry users buying more software, sales up 1,201% since Q1 2005

Handango, an online reseller of mobile and PDA applications and a back-end service for online portals, offering PDA and phone downloads, reported the sales number for Research In Motion’s BlackBerry platform. Handango software sales for BlackBerry are up 1,201% over Q1 2005 and 64% over Q4 2004. Sales per unique BlackBerry customer are 13% higher than sales per Palm OS customer. Visitors to BlackBerry download portals powered by Handango are up 29% over Q4 2004. The number of third-party BlackBerry applications has grown an average of 41% QTQ since Q1 2004.

I hope this means that the quality of 3rd party BlackBerry software will start to improve as more developers are drawn to the platform. I've been more than a little disappointed, not just with the relative lack of apps, but also with the poor quality of a lot of the stuff that is available.

BIG NEWS. April the 26th Nexcom Wireless will launch the first ever US Blackberry Store. If you ever get to Charlotte NC swing by downtown at 4th and Tryon for a visit with 2 more first. The First ever 6' Blackberry modeled after a 7520 and the original Blackberry Man. I will post pictures later in the week. Needless to say Nexcom is pro blackberrry
