I've had my 8800 now for 2 days.

I can't keep my 8800 conntected to my Range Rover's Bluetooth Handsfree system without it constantly disconecting. It is driving me nuts!

I spend a lot of time in my car and this is crucial! I have never had any issues with my 8700 and the bluetooth connectivity.

Any suggestions or thoughts before I send this BB back to the store?

I have not even tried to connect my LS460 with the 8800. Never got the 8700 to work well so I just bought the Blackberry BT headset and could not be more happy. Voice dialing works perfectly without even touching the handset.

Funny for me in that I had the same issue with the 8700 in my car and compatibility probs they were having between my BB and Motorola BT...they tried 10 diffferent things, then finally car audio guys concluded I need the Parrot...was about to bring the car in, but then when I purchased the 8800, prob all gone...go figure.

One thing you might try to do if you've not done so already, is to go through the pairing process again, including entering the security code, which is normally 1,2,3,4.

Did you have a phone paired previously with your Range Rover?

You might want to check with your dealer to see if a Bluetooth update is available. A friend of mine had a similar problem with his BMW and a different brand of phone. Problem was resolved when his BMW dealer updated the cars BT software.

also under bluetooth settings on your 8800 go to the device properties for your vehicle and make sure Trusted is set to "Yes" and not to "Ask"

I am sorry to hear that you are having connection issues between the Range Rover and the BB8800.

I have a 2006 RR Sport and had to manually connect the Pearl and the 8700 each time I entered the car by putting the RR as "NOT Trusted" and the Pearl and 8700 as "Not Discoverable". And only then, after I entered the car, went to "options, bluetooth, land rover, connect" would I get full functionality with the ability to use the keypad to dial out and for the car's speakers to handle/answer incoming calls. This was a major annoyance as my Motorola Razr always connected automatically and worked flawlessly.

However, with the BB8800 I have been pleasantly surprised. The phone connects automatically each time I enter the car and I have full functionality with the ability to use the keypad to dial out and/or to have the car's speakers answer the incoming calls.

Here are my settings for the BB8800:

Device Name: Blackberry 8800
Discoverable: Yes
Allow Outgoing Calls: Always
Address Book Transfer: Disabled
LED Connection Indicator: On


Here are my settings for the RR Sport:

Device Name: Land Rover
Trusted: Yes
Encryption: Enabled
Echo Control: Enabled


Try setting your phone to these setting under: options, bluetooth, options. And then change the device properties under: options, bluetooth, device properties.

I will try to see if any of these tips work. It just boggles me becuase with my old 8700, I never had any issues.

Bummer. FWIW, it works fine on my 2004 Range Rover with OEM (i.e. BMW) Bluetooth. I think the advice to have the dealer ensure the latest version of the truck's BT firmware is installed is good.

Personally, I would sooner upgrade my Bluetooth setup and keep the 8800, vs dump this terrific phone and keep the bluetooth.

Ah, but he has OEM Bluetooth Handsfree, so that would entail replacing the truck.

no it wouldnt, just the bluetooth radio within the rover...
