Good news! Thanks to some intrepid beta testing by new 8800 owners, I've released a modem script that allows you to tether your 8800 to your Mac via Bluetooth. (For the curious, it's essentially identical to the script for the Pearl.)

If you've got an 8800, you can read more and get instructions here. If you run into problems, post a comment there and I'll try to help out. I'd appreciate speed reports if you're successful - I'm curious if the 8800 suffers from the same slow upload problem the Pearl has.

Excellent - works well on my PBG4 with a 8800 - connected no problem via GPRS. I haven't checked the speed as I'm in Europe at the moment and don't have EDGE.

Will this script work with the 8703e?

Sorry, no. This only works with the 8800 and 8100 models. The 87xx models lack the basic Bluetooth profile required for this to work.
