Unrecognized modules that will be removed = DST Patch!?
Please Login to Remove!
So, I am having all sorts of fun (cough, cough) implementing BB's in our environment and since I am playing with all sorts of apps and MDS stuff from our BES (just learning all this), I setup a software config to deliver patch manager 2.3 out - worked fine - dst sql checker works - happy.
This forum certainly helped with a lot of my questions, but now...
So today I need to do some apploader stuff and had to laugh - in the dialog box at the end:
Unrecognized modules that will be removed:
net_rim_bb_timezoneupdater
AARRRRGHHH!? Any ideas - sure I can re-install it, but this is silly.
Also, in the list of items to remove:
BlackBerry API Library - Ummm, no, I didn't check that off, didn't even see it in the list!
So, if I let it uninstall it, where do I get it to put it back on?
Thanks!

Hea, there are some other threads about this. You are forced to remove the TimezoneOTApatcher if you want to add programs via the Desktop manager, I haven't found any way around it.
Once it's removed, you still have the "DST 2007 Patch" option under "Options". It just says "patch not loaded or something" Just click it and there will be an option to redownload the patch. Kinda sucks, but hey

Are you using the latest version of Desktop Manager (4.2 SP1)? I have the patch on my Pearl and Application Loader doesn't try to remove it.

This happened to me as well, it is very annoying. It removed BlackBerry API but my BB has been working fine, no problems at all. Anyone knows if this makes a difference? Do I need it and if so, where do I go to get it again.
All of this happened when I upgraded to OS .71 (Cingular).
Thanks.

Ahh....as for me, I don't have the SP1 version of DM. I'll try to install it.
Now, what about the BB API that AppLoader removed? Is this essential? Again, my device is working perfectly fine.
Thanks again.

I've seen that as well. However, it comes up every time I run apploader. It doesn't seem to affect anything.

That's the latest version. If it removes it just put it back on. I actually removed it with the desktop manager--I had a checkbox for it. The BES pushed it back later in the day. If it doesn't just get it using the BB Browser from BlackBerry HELP!

John, thanks for your quick response. I'll try DM SP1.

I have tried the last 2 desktop manager's. Both remove it from my 7250. BES pushes back to me as long as the config is still setup in the BES.

I'm using the SP1 DM and any kind of App Loader install wants to remove the DST patch (along with the BBY API module). Did you load the DST patch OTA? Or did you use the install kit that gets loaded onto the PC? I only did the OTA install from the SMS that TMo sent out.
Thx

Just go and download it again, from your BB browser.

Was this directed at me? If so, I do re'DL the patch after any DM app install. It can be done right from the patch entry in options.
What I'm trying to figure out is if this 'unrecognized module' business is confined to a patch that was applied via the OTA method. It sounds like John doesn't get the message so maybe the DM installed patch makes some changes to App Loader/DM's config such that the module is now recognized as a new 'piece' of the OS.

Why can't RIM give us a Desktop Manager with an overide option for the removal function. This is just bush league. It has been a problem for a long time!

Workaround Yet??
ARGH!!!
I am using DM SP1 and every time I attempt to install an application it asks me to remove the Blackberry API Library. I did this once, and had to wipe the phone with JL_Cmder and completely reinstall the firmware to get the API back on the device.
I don't understand how people have allowed DM to delete the API Library and it shows NO consequences in their usages of the BB! For me it takes away the BB browser, and any cababilities that use the API library, such as running Gmail and Google Maps programs on the BB, essentially crippling the device.
Does anyone know how I can install apps without the DM? How about a version of the DM that doesn't do this. This a HUGE issue in my book.
Thank you!

You can always download OTA, if the programs are available that way.

Thank you - that's what I have been doing, but the app that is really holding me up is Flexwallet. It wants to only install through the DM.
