im trying to install the cingular .71 os on my tmo... i did it once before worked fine but now....::shrugs:: i dled the file from bb.com blackberry maine slate 8100c... installed... delete vendor.xml and replaced jibi's blackberry.alx in the installed folder.... start up desktop manager apploader and they give me this.... the bb desktop sofrtware does not have blackberry device software for the device that you have connected to the computer. contact your wireless service provider... i click the add button and double click on jibi's blackberry.alx file and this same msg is shown.... any help?

I've been getting the exact same issue, tried reinstalling both the OS and DM and it didnt help. It would be great if someone had a solution for this.

Attempting to "add" jibi's .alx file won't do anything. It doesn't work that way. Make sure you've downloaded the correct OS package. Install it to the PC. Delete Vendor.xml (after installing the OS package) then connect BB and open Desktop manager. Should prompt you to upgrade.

I've done a hundred of updates, so I'm sure everything is done right. This happened when I tried downgrading from the new TIM OS.

ok this is what i did hope it helps... u have to go to control panel... add remove program... unistall all progs that has the bb logo except the desktop manager... what i did was wipe device andinstalled os again... but i guess u dont have to... dl the cingular red 8100c and delete vendor.xml after installing... and open apploader and select downgrade.... thats what i did but actually installed really old version of tmo and upgraded

hmm ive tried that but i kept trying the cingular Red OS i guess i should try a different version but I dont want to downgrade too far.
