I guess they could have put a lot of things into the OS and also provided a stereo headset and leather case with the phone. But they didn't, so that is that.

But the program is only $4.95 so that is not too bad all things considered.

OTA means that you access an install link via your Pearl. You click the link and the program installs "over the air" meaning your phone connection, which is wireless or through the air.

OTA is nice if you want to install programs without having to connect your Pearl to a computer, etc. It's especially slick if you can install programs while on the road, in a restaurant or when in the drunk tank.

HOLY SMOKES this ROCKS!!!!

I convinced my employer to spring for this program for each of the 8 Pearls in stock. BAM we sold all of them within an hour with no discounts regular price with rate plan.

I love it I may now have to get a PEARL for myself. Will this program work for 8800?

Question How is the Battery Life?

Looked at all the posts in this thread (OK, most of them) but never saw one questions asked that is important to me...

How does this application effect battery life?

Program does NOT work with the 8800. I reached out to the developer, and received the following...

Quote:
It doesn't look very likely at this point. RIM has either disabled or broken the ability on the 8800. We will get in contact with them and attempt to bring the app to the 8800.

The battery life is the same, I did not notice any changes at all.

Haha this program rocks. In retrospect it sucks for those that took their pearls apart and did it with a sharpie. It sucks that it does not work with the 8800 I was thinking of upgrading. Now if they could only release a program for the automatic lighting instead of the faulty Tim Italy software...

I thought it was neat, and looks best when the backlight isn't on. The white led really dulls the blue, which is the color I like best.

Neat thing they did with the uninstall is that the device is reset upon completion so that you can't set the color you want and then uninstall it and it would stick.

We may have the registhestion code, but we're highly unlikely to give it to you hehe.

I'm also sure that it will affect the battery life a little bit because it normally the white LED would be the only one on, this program keeps the white one plus the color of your choice on so, it keeps two LED's on... How much it affects your battery life? I don't know, you'd have to buy the program and do some testing. Well maybe you'd be able to do it within the trial period but yeah maybe not, it's only 5 bucks.

Someone elsexxx8217;s registration code most likely will not work on your BB, so stop asking for it.

LEDS typically do not use a lot of power so the battery life drainage will probably be minimal but I do not know for sure

haven't notice that much of a battery drainage, I've been using it for 3 days now, and battery life is pretty much the same.

I like it! One thing I noticed is it stays on 15 seconds even when you use a magnet pouch or standby, but so what. The colors do look different if the backlight is on (but so what).

I haven't noticed any real impact on battery drain. I've been using it for a whole discharge cycle, and the battery has lasted right about the same as without the app.
