I asked my local T-Mobile store, and they said that they would get the 8800 BEFORE the 8300. They said 1 year before the 8300 would be released because T-Mobile is the only company that does lots of tests on their phones before they release them. And, that's why T-Mobile has the fewest problems with their phones of all the carrier providers.

I didn't believe anthing they said and walked out the door.

i have sprint and tmobile. I def. want the camera still and the mp3 player but i really don't like the keyboard on the Pearl. The WiFi would be nice at my house cause tmobiles service is weak here. Would it be worth it to get the 8320 to replace my razrr v3m and sidekick 3?

That's pretty comical. The technology would be outdated if they tested for a year.

I really don't understand why anyone goes to a store rep (corporate or not) for prerelease device info...

That's a personal judgement call that you have to make and no one has any info based on an actual release model anyway. The only requirements you've listed are camera, MP3 player and WiFi. Yes -- those are slated for the 8320 as far as we know so they meet your needs on those particular points.

Ian, regardless of how "flawless" your arguments are RIM decided to create several models. Just because you can't perceive or understand something doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. That's the reality of the situation -- though on the other hand, RIM's reasoning could certainly be flawed. If the reason behind the various models is the windmill you're tilting at you should take it up with RIM. No one hear can answer or speak for them.

I was hoping they would know more than me about "close" release date of the next BB. But I was dissapointed yet again.

In my experiance store reps know nothing at all it's just a waste of time asking them

Don't get me wrong -- there are good ones out there. However, if you don't personally know a good one it's very hit-or-miss. Mostly miss...

I am new at this so please excuse me if I screw this up!

I was just on the phone with TM customer service for a problem with my daughters Sidekick 3 and I asked the rep what new BB phones they will be offering soon. She told me that they received a note today that the phone will be the 8320. the only option she would tell me about what the fact that the phone will have the camera. She told me 4 weeks or less from today.

FOR WHAT ITS WORTH!!!!!!!!!!!1

I asked him if TMO is getting the 8800 series
his response

The whole point of the 83xx is the ability to use WiFi and a camera. Otherwise it's just an 8800. If it's the consumer model it will have a camera.

First I wouldn't even place too many marbles with a Tmo rep, let alone an indirect sales rep for Tmo.

Second, as stated many times, the 83xx will have a cam.

I don't think anyone can clear up any speculation with more speculation. Until its made official, it will be all speculation and guesses.

'Oppenheimer's Harris raised his 2008 and 2009 earnings per share estimates for the company, due to the expected launch of several new smartphones, including the Daytona 8300/8320 this spring. He expects the T-Mobile version of the 8320 will include Wi-Fi, while the AT&T model will stick with the EDGE network.'

Oh yes T-Mo come on and release the 8320!
