You could operate on that crackpot theory, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Why wouldn't it make a difference? Rev. A will allow simultaneous voice and data wouldn't it? Why wouldn't I like the option of browsing the web on my BB while I talk on the phone at the same time?

I could be wrong, but to my knowledge rev A will only allow faster download speed and much faster upload speed. I have read nothing about simultaneous data and voice. I do know HSDPA on GSM allows data and voice at the same time.

I wonder how long Alltel customers will have to wait for the 8830? We desperately need SOME type of Int'l offering, but I SERIOUSLY doubt that Alltel wil pick up THIS particular handset. That would make WAY TOO MUCH SENSE!

I'm really impressed. Not enough to switch to Verizon, but impressed. They'd have to stop the device crippling next...

I couldn't agree more. No GPS on the 8703e and now the 8830. Sprint has them beat hands down (CDMA).

The 8800 was launched in February and the 8830 is to be launched in May. That's only a three-month difference between the GSM and CDMA releases. I would say that classic opinion of when RIM brings products to market is not correct. I would expect a CDMA version of an 8300 to launch within 3-6 mo of the GSM counterpart(s).

Verizon is getting the 8830 in May. May 14th for business users, and May 28th for the commercial store.

Research In Motion

There is the news on the release of the phone with Verizon.

Alltel will, but only after its test off Verizon...well it might not even be that long...being Verizon and Alltel are sister company's it could roll out quicker...the 8703's rolled out pretty close to the same time...but Verizon is a good test subject for the phone's before Alltel gets them...yes the wait sucks...but oh well..

The "classic opinion" is based on history. If the 8830 releases when it's said to be released that will be a record for a CDMA release.

Oh well I guess thats is that!

We all know the truth now!

Darn I thought Cingular would be first, maybe because of all the images of real 8300s with the Cingular screen on it! Guess Sprint is being more descrete! Darn that Sprint, they always get all the new stuff first!

HA!
