Default BES Questions

Hi all, I am just wondering how long does it actually take to set up the server to run. i never actually did an installation so i was wondering.


another question is what is the alterative to having a BES server, is it the connector?? and what are the advantages of the server being in place


i really appreciate your help guys.

Before you install a BES server, you have to decide if you will be using a remote sql db. if so an acct with admin rights will be needed on the sql server. If you go this route make sure the server you install the bes on can reach the sql server. if port 1433 is not open to the sql server on your firewall you will have to open the port in addition to port 3101. you should also consider the number of users that will be added to the server. if there are company policies that have to be adhere to you want to make sure you create the appropriate policy on the BES. make sure you have the recommended hardware and software install on the box. if you're using domino make sure that the server is present in the domino domain with the appropriate rights.....
the actual installation will take approx. 15 minutes or so..... it's the prep work that will take you a little more time.....
