What are the benefits of waiting, besides the possibility of T-Mobile releasing a model with WiFi and/or GPS?

One benefit is avoiding that horrible looking pastel colored theme on all the Cingular BB's. Sure you can just change it to the Zen theme. We can only pray that TMobile is holding out to add in WiFi.

I just know I want one to replace my Pearl (8100) ASAP. I have REALLY grown tired of the thumb cramps and the smaller screen, and SureType!

I hope that T-Mobile offers 1 models, 1 with WiFi, and 1 without.

Personally I want one with WiFi, but that will probably cost 500 bucks!

Will the Zen theme be available from T-Mobile even though they don't have a version of the Curve being sold by their company?

Tastic,
The BlackBerry.alx inside the O2 OS Release (or any other BB release) generally has themes for a variety of carriers, locked to the carrier's ID. (T-Mobile is 100). If you tweak the .alx file, you can modify which themes get installed to the device.

So, for example, my 8300 is O2 branded. I believe the carrier code is 115 (though don't quote me, I haven't poked around enough to remember it). All I do is open the BlackBerry.alx file, find the XML property tags for the T-Mobile theme (which is actually 3 modules -- the Zen theme, the myFaves 5-click thing, some icons, etc.) and change it from 100 (T-Mobile's ID) to 115, or, separate them with a pipe (100|115).

The carrier ID (afaik) is burned into the devices' ROM, and can't be reflashed (though I'm not sure what happens if it is unlocked.) What this essentially does is trick the OS into using other themes by "allowing" them on other carrier IDs. You can also remove the carrier ID completely (like the 3 default themes) and it will still work.

Save the file, and then launch Desktop Manager. The software will detect a change, and will copy the theme files to the handset.

Neither since I am an at&t customer. ;)

Upgrade pricing. If TMO offers the 8300 it won't have WiFi or GPS. An 8300 is an 8300. Now if they carry anoher 83xx model that's a different story.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

What about insurance? Are their other options if you buy a att 8300?

I'm holding out for T-Mobile in hopes they'll release the 8320 and give us WiFi adn built-in GPS. Nobody's getting 3G on a Blackberry this year if I read the various reports correctly. As a TMo guy it really doesn't matter to me as TMo doesn't have more than EDGE where I live. What I'd love above all else is html email. At least as an option I can turn on.
