confused
So is it basically the same as the 8700 keyboard?
Like the same feel ...I know the spacing is about the same, but is typing the same on it as well. This might sound nit-picky ..but describe- please.
Is the keyboard on the 8300 one entire piece..hear rumors of noisy keyboards.
Can anyone verify this on an 02 model as well as an at&t model? I'm basically after a 8700 with a microsd card & well duh the player.
I"m thinking this might make or break my purchase. I almost bought a 8800 but I found the keys to be best described as "slimy" or sticky ...was an "eww feeling for me"
Comments/Any experience please post ..thanks!

I played with an 8300 for the first time today...looks gorgeous, is rugged, but the only gripe i have with it is that the keys do seem a bit small, but they are raised...i only got to play with it for like 3 minutes...looks like its going to be a great device...the keyboard however reminds me of a palm treo's keyboard...i'm still getting one tomorrow..

There is NONE OF DOUBT in my mind and heart that Curve keyboard is look EXACTLY like Treo keyboard!

they are not exactly like a treo..... they are flatter and easier to type on......... looks can be very deceiving.
it IS close to a treo's keyboard but not that close really.

I'm glad you asked that question, as it's one of the nicest features in my opinion. One can type either one handed (very easily) or two handed.
I find the ergonomics of this model far and away the best of any BB I've had.
Cheers.....

1) This is not a blast, and I'm not a hater. I have no time for negativity.
2) Yes the keyboard is smaller
3) I've used my Unlocked O2 8300 for nearly a month now, I have relatively large hands, and I find this keyboard the best. Better than any BlackBerry I've had except the 7130c which is very close, as it also has keys designed for typing quickly.
Cheers.......

Well Said & I Agree !
I am qualified to address this issue of qwerty keyboards as I have an 8300, 8700c & 8800.
Personal preferences factor in highly when evaluating a keyboard. That said, I choose to view each BlackBerry differently as each model is truly unique and has it's pros and cons. The only time I might proclaim one keyboard as best over another is if I feel that it will have universal appeal to a wide range of users.
I happen to like the keyboard on the 8800, even without any spacing between keys. Speaking for myself, it's far better for me than the keyboard on the 8700c which I can hardly put up with. Yet that's just me.
When speaking of the 8300 keyboard, I find that highly comfortable, fast and easy to use. It's a simple as that.
However just like when I read a review of a product, I keep in mind that it's just one persons opinion. I think if that same mentality were applied by more members of this forum, then perhaps fewer people would get so worked up and take things so personally that they feel they must retaliate, or take issue and personally attack the person whom they disagree with.
I'd rather lighten up, share our individual opinions and experiences and enjoy what I can learn about BlackBerrys from the experience here.
Cheers....

Curve
I was very anxious to get the 8800...and I dumped it because of the keyboard.
Granted, the 8300's keys are smaller than the 8700 series, but at least there's a space between them. That's why I'm liking the 8300.
So far, at least...still need to get PocketMac to sync.

8300 keyboard seems to have the "feel" of the 8700 keyboard which I really liked.

Fan, I correct you that 8300 kyboard to have the feel of the 8700 kyboard. 8300's wide is little bit smaller from 8700 series. Because I picked the copy of att curve unit up from att store, and wait for unlock asap. I play with it for while.

The 8800 keyboard is perfectly fine, and honestly looks better without gaps....and I also own a Curve, which while slightly different, is no better in actual usage.

I have used every device from 8100, 8700, 8800 and now the 8300. I actually have a full history line up of most of RIM's device form factors. everything from the 850/950 to the 8300 sitting on my desk.
The 8300 is the first device in a long time that reminds the long time BlackBerry Users of the "good old days" The keyboard is very much similar to that of a 950 series device. The keyboard has fantastic ergonomics, and you can trully tell that RIM spent alot of time getting this right. It has the perfect feel. Everyone whether small handed (such as my gf) to myself (I have huge hands) can get used to and type rather quickly on the Curve.
I find myself using the backspace button less often as I make less mistakes in comparison to the 8800, the keys on that device are too close, therefore easily pressed by mistake.

Only been using the 8300 from about noon yesterday but I find it to be OK. Spacing is good and it has a "crisp" feel so you know when you have pushed a key. For me the keyboard is going to be fine. The 8800 seemed a little hard to deal with at first but became better with use. I will admit that the 75XX or even 8700 series has larger keyboards but they were larger devices.
I think most will adapt to the 8300 keyboard quickly, it sure beats the Pearl!

I agree it beats the pearls keyboard, for me anyhow, since I like a full keyboard.
As Greg said, prior/larger models, such as the 7520 were such a comfort though they were larger units. My 7520 was liking typing at home on my pc, which was awsome. I've adapted quickly to the Curveboard though.....tastey!
