Default Formatting 2G Sd card

Please Login to Remove!

I just popped the SD card in and the phone didn't ask me to format the card. Is this need or does ask to do it when you start sync information from your desktop? I have a 2G and now show available 1.8? Where did the rest go?

Thanks

Format the card by going to OPtions >Advanced Options >Media Card. Click the menu key and select "Format Card."

1.8GB is normal after inserting the card. .2GB is used for file system info.

There is no Media Card option under Advance in the 8300. Weird but not even under Media do I see the option to format the card.

From the main screen, go to Options >Media Card >Click the menu key and select "Format Card." Sorry, it's under Advanced Options on my Pearl.

plug it in to a computer. Click yes on the bb. And it maps to a drive on your computer. In theory you could wipe it from that. Otherwise you can use a card reader to do it. Eitherway should work. I just bought one and popped it in and started using. You always loose space. I just recently bought a 320gig hd but only like 303 gigs were usable. Blah! But it's life.

No Format option in the 8300 at all. Weird. Maybe the 8300 doesn't need this option???

It properly formats the card for use in the Blackberry. It also adds all the proper folders to the card.

It's there....Once you get to the Options >Media Card Screen you have to hit the menu button to see the "Format Card" option.

I have a problem that may be related, so I'll post here (if it needs to be moved to its own post, mods please do so).

I have a new 8300 and have inserted a Crucial 2 GB microSD card. I format it within the phone and it shows 1.8GB available. When I attach via usb, I receive the prompt to go to mass storage mode. If I say yes, I do not see the device in Windows Explorer so I detach from the laptop and reconnect. This time I say no to the prompt for mass storage mode and launch Desktop Manager. When I launch the Media Manager all I get is the 8300 and "device memory" but no media card.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

It had nothing to do with the 8300. It was computer related. I run VMWare servers from the USB drives on my laptop - in order to keep work/personal separate - and somehow the laptop did not 'know' that the device was connected.

Default another related question

Well, this is another question related to this topic. I recently bought a Blackberry Pearl and a microSD card (a Lexar, 2GB). I inserted the card into the phone, but it still says that "a media card is not presently inserted in the device." I've tried removing and inserting the card a couple of times, but it still says the same thing. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

When I try to format my SD card, the phone "restarts" and then tells me "A Media card has been inserted that is not formated. Please format the card."

Any suggestions?
