Default Will T-Mobile introduce the 8300 to their lineup?

Please Login to Remove!

I'm at a point in my tenure with T-Mobile where I have outlived my contract. While I have no desire to leave, I am somewhat disappointed that T-Mobile remans the only major carrier to not offer greater-than-EDGE-speed data.

Still, I'd consider staying with T-Mobile if I knew that they have every intention of introducing the 8300 to their lineup of phones. Anyone know the status of this? Anyone know whether they have any plans to upgrade their data plans?

Thanks!

P.S. I didn't see anything in the search that answered my question.

Keep in mind that he 8300 is only an edge device. It doesn't matter which carrier you are with if that is the device you are going to carry.

Thank you for pointing out my paradox. Yes, I realize it's an EDGE-only device. At some point in the future, I'd like to know that my carrier is able to accomodate higher data speeds, since I use my phone as a tether as well.

Try harder, there's already a topic about 8300 on T-mobile. In fact, I think it's in the 8300 section.

No one knows when the 8300 will be out for T-mobile.

As far as I know, the last date I heard before 8300 came out for AT&T was toward the end of July.

As for the speed, T-mobile is working on it but I don't expect to see it until 2008 or 2009.

So far, none of the Blackberries are capable of high speed yet. If you want high speed, you have to get a Windows based phone or other capable high speed phones. Than you have to go to Sprint or Verizon for it.

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I really really hope they decide on a darker color like black or the dark blue of the 8700g for the US release.

THANK YOU so much for posting side by side pix of the 8700 and the 8300. Somehow, with all the Curves out there, I hadn't come across this direct comparison in any other photo. 8800, yes. 8100, yes. 8700? No.

As an 8700g user eagerly anticipating the 8320 on TMo, I'm more excited than ever!

We were at the Tmobile store the other day and the resident BB guy was telling us that the District Manager has the 8300 on her hip. They have to wait to release till At&T has had their exclusive time.

It will have Wifi and will be included in the Hotspot at home program. Which both Wifey and I can not wait for.

Well, the only reason you would want anything faster than EDGE is if your into watch streaming videos or listening to streaming music like SPRINT TV/MUSIC or Verzion VCAST, which really isn't enable on blackberry.

But for browsing on your BB broswer wise, EDGE vs 3G vs EV-DO really doesn't make a difference YET. The processor on phones isn't quick enough or able to handle "broadband" speeds. My work EV-DO blackberries and my personal 8700g on T-Mo, in speed comparsion, the Sprint BBs are "slightly" faster but honestly really nothing to brag about. Only time it makes a difference is if you "teher" your BBs, then you'll notice the difference in speeds.

I can confirm this... I met with my T-Mobile and Blackberry reps today... I had their curve in my hand today.

IT will have Wi-Fi and be part of the Hotspot at home that was just released. Also, promo price for the Hotspot @home is $9.99 intro price...

Target date was tossed about... but not confirmed, so I'm not going to post... just say... Fall...

Regarding whether TMo is going to offer a broadband wireless service. In short, yes, it's coming. Last year they acquired radio frequency spectrum licenses that 3G uses - a huge investment. Presumably they are now "rolling out" the network equipment to enable 3G support. When? Nobody outside the executive suite knows. I'd expect it to hit LA and NYC first. Rumor has it the NYC deployment is already done.

Divergence: HotSpot @home (TMo WiFi) is only for calls and not for a data connection!? WTF?

I'm not sure how much I'd use the WiFi, but I'd like it nonetheless!!

I have to tell you guys, while September (the date being tossed around now in several threads) is a loooooooong time to wait with my 8700g (and *not* order an iPhone), the 3.2MP camera and wifi are going a long way to making me feel a lot better about the wait!!

I truly hope the 8320 is part of the hotspot at home program - where we live coverage is "ok" in our house but not great. but of course our wifi network is the bomb So I'd be all over that. And finally get the wife to switch from awful verizon...

I am told that Blackberry data will be supported via HotSpot @home... when the Curve is released.

My rep is going to provide me with the Curve and HotSpot @home setup just prior to public release, or at release time...

He's good about getting me the latest gear... so far he has given me and my team 8700's, Pearls and 8800's... NO CHARGE

One slight concern I have... they said.. no built in GPS

The same as that in the pictures posted by XBGM3R.... although to my eyes, it looks a little "darker" in person. (wonder if the camera's flash made it look lighter in the picture?)
