Default Tethering on 8800 and O2 - Please help - im going insane

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone could help.

Im trying to get tethering working on my 8800 (O2 carrier).

Steps I have tried,

Using DT manager v4.2.2
Using DT manager 4.2.1 (Both versions reinstalled from scratch)

Modem setting
at+cdgcont=1,"IP","mobile.o2.co.uk"
also
+cdgcont=1,"IP","mobile.o2.co.uk"

Dial number *99#

user faster
pass password

also

user mobileweb
pass password

also blank user and passwords

Tried using no apn specified in blb and with the above apn

The bb is connected to bes v4.0 sp7 (latest)

Also tried changing,
AllowExternalConnections IT
Allow Split Pipe Connections on the IT Policy in BES

I get connected and the first few times it worked perfectly! this is what is so frustrating.
Must have tried about 30 times since then and it connects but never loads up a page.

Suddenly yesterday I tried again and was surfing for about 10 mins without a single problem, then I disconnected and reconnected and havent got it to work again since.

I am 110% I was not connected to any other networks at the time and could tell from the speed that it was working so Im not going mad If it never worked in the first place I would just give up, its just Im so close but so far

Any help at all would be very very much appreciated!

Thanks in advance

I would say it is a problem with O2.

I had similar problems with T-Mobile USA some time back.

Thanks very much for the reply, was thinking as much myself.

I was thinking of giving the shark modem a try but was a little concerned as I bet this will not use GPRS but some kind of gsm to trasport the data, hence making my data plan worthless and costing a lot extra, does anyone know if the shark modem (mobishark) can use GPRS or is it not even worth trying this with the problems I have?

Thanks again

The Shark Modem is really for older devices without the built-in modem. Thus, using it on your 8800 would do you no good because if there is a problem with O2, it still won't work.
