VZW using TCP / BIS services doesn't work, BES does, for all the IM clients I've tried w/ the exception of the Browser based ones. -Pk

Agreed on the free=better. I actually got it to work going back and forth with the login screen to the home screen about 15 times, but the UI is awful, and that login process is a dealbreaker.

IMing should always be free, there are a bunch of PC programs out there that are free like Trillian, and all the regular messaging programs for PC have always been free. I will never pay for any IM program for any device, no matter how good it is.

Also I should mention that Yahoo messenger is free, Google talk messenger is free, Blackberry messenger is free, and I'm sure there are others. Why is AOL the only one being a *****?

AOL isnt be a ***** as you put it. AOL just hasnt released any software directly. However, there is a free AIM available to Sprint users available from blackberry.com, which may or may not be developed by AOL, not sure.

Beejive is the company charging for AIM/others. They developed their own multinetwork software, and have the right to charge for it. So before you go and bash AOL or whomever, get your facts straight

BB messenger isnt free you paid for it when you bought the BB and the data package try and use it with out data and see how free it is.

Since you like the free and you wont ever pay for it youll always be behind the rest.

Default Is there the 160 Character Limit with beejive?

Curious if the character limit that SMS has affects beejive. I prefer email but the wife and kids have regular VZ phones and they text and IM.

TBOLTRAM, there is a 30 day free trial with JiveTalk. So you do not even need to part with the $20 to try! However, once you try it, you are going to part with your $20 cause there is nothing better on BBerry
