That's called business. Quit your *****ing about it. If they are charging too much, no one will buy it. If they aren't, people will. Just because you think it's too much doesn't really count for a lot. Not to mention you have no idea of development costs between the two platforms.

My first impressions of Jive and IM+ are both work well. IM+ offers MySpace chat and the language translator. Jive feels easier to navigate through, allowing you to end convo's without opening them first, expand/collapse with one click vs. IM+'s open menu -> collapse/expand. IM+'s main menu where you select the chat service also "hangs" and then jumps pretty badly, which is annoying. JiveTalk offers a 30day trial, IM+ 5 day.

Yes Yes I know of business and I know of business greed and price gouging. And regardless of what you call it, price gouging doesn't win respect, which I have lost in shape services.

Like I said before. It doesn't matter. There is always development differences between platforms, but you look at it as a different product, not a burden. I can count SEVERAL companies that produce OSX and Windows versions, an few that produce OSX, Windows, and Linux. There are different costs in developing for all of them. But, 95% of all of these companies don't charge double for the OSX version just because those people are willing to pay more.

Anyway im done chatting in here ... no need to bash a dishonest and disrespectful company over and over just because they don't have the respect of their customers that other companies have in theirs.

And for the record .... I would have paid $49 for this program if I didn't know before hand that they charged $29 for the exact same thing. I just refuse to be suckered into paying more to a greedy company who expects my money for the SOLE REASON that we are suckers willing to pay it.

Default Suggestions

Hello, Victoria,

I use IM+ v.5.0 so long and have some suggestions for the developers:

- First of all have the color for the most recent incoming message be different from those that were received earlier. This way I will notice the last message faster, I think. Maybe let these colors fade somehow or be contrasting.
- More sounds, so I can choose between different sounds for application events
- Use blackberry profiles to alert notifications. If device is in quiet mode, IM+ will be in quite mode as well.
- Better performance when logging in.
- More dialog styles
- By default if an AIM user is idle, the icon should display thatxxx8230; You canxxx8217;t even tell by looking at the user details if this user is idle or not
- Be able to log out of all protocols from the menu within the contact list section rather than having to back out to the main screen

What have you all thought about battery drain? I am using Jive Talk on a trial basis. My issue is with their battery power. How does this program handle that matter.

Look here:

"In release version 5.0.5 we have made some changes for battery saving.

Most battery-saving connection configuration is:
TCP/IP
Direct TCP
You can set it under IM+ Settings / Connection.

We have increased timeout time to 3 minutes.

Before setting this connection configuration, please make sure that TCP/IP is enabled on your Blackberry.

See a list of known settings on our WAP-site:
SHAPE Services
or on our Web-site:
SHAPE Services - FAQ section - BlackBerry TCP settings page

Alternatively you can contact your wireless carrier for
correct TCP/IP settings.

You can enter TCP/IP setting on youb Blackberry under
Options -> TCP
or Tools -> TCP
or Options -> Advanced Options -> TCP
depending on your Blackberry model..."

IM+ Support team,

did the OTA download and still have the problem with the message advising me there is a new version for 8100 devices upon application startup. When doing the OTA download there is no choice to choose for OS4.2 like there is with the desktop version. Otherwise all else seems okay, like the signal strength indicator. Please advise on the startup issue, thanks.

Hi, does IM+ work with Rogers IM service? I have an unlocked blackberry curve and have the Rogers $8/month msn package. That service includes 2500 sent msg per month and receiving are unlimited.

My question is, using IM+, will my rogers IM service pick up and recognize that i am still using msn or i'll be charged additional fees? (such as per-per-use kb)

EDIT
I do not have BB data plan or any other data plans

Our application works absolutely independent of other IM services. It uses GPRS data transfer, which is charged per megabyte of transferred data.

Called rogers data rep, they said i will not be charged any data fees if subscrbed to the monthly IM plan. Even if i am using another app. to acess msn. I'll have to wait and find out at the end of the month.
