I have never had a GSM phone until today. I got a GO phone from AT&T to take mountain biking with me instead of my 8830 (I don't think the 8830 would work too well if it were full of mud). So I want to take all my contacts off my 8830 and put them onto the SIM card of the GO phone. Simple enough?

When I put the card into the 8830 it displays "Invalid SIM Card", when I go to the address book and try to go into the SIM Phonebook it says the same thing.

Is this something that is even possible, or should I just manually enter all my contacts into the 8830.

It won't happen. The 8830 is locked to Vodafone/Verizon, and will not accept other SIM cards. Additionally, there is no simple way to back contacts up to the SIM, even if your 8830 was unlocked and accepted the at&t SIM.

I was afraid of that. Well, it's just for part time use anyway I guess I could manually enter those phone numbers in one at a time... without a QWERTY keyboard... and iTap... I think I'll cry now!hehehe

If I should destroy the wee little phone in a horrible accident, I will be able to take the SIM to the new AT&T though, right? I hate to wander too far from Blackberry topics here.
