Unhappy Brand new to bb text messages.

Please Login to Remove!

I just got this phone last night, charged it placed old sim card in it and turned it on can use phone can use voicemail, i can "see" that i have 2 text messages, but when i go to the messages icon, i get general options that i can select and a messages option that i can't select, i called nextel and the girl told me i can't use my sim card with it and i have to have the bbemail account for 39.99 I am like what not for just regular messages,, huh ???? is she right or what ????

If it's got the lastest operating system, then a text message wouldn't show up in "Messages", it would be in "SMS and MMS".

Yes. I had the same problem. My i880 sim would not work, had to get the correct one and bb data plan 49.99 unlimited.

My wife took my old 7105t and put her SIM card in it and used it for months texting back and forth with no problems. No data plan on her account. That's through T-Mobile, though, so not sure on your situation.

The 7100i does not support sending SMS messages like your older phone. It will receive SMS. It can send and receive MMS messages.
Either way you need the BB plan in order to receive the Service Books which control the functionality of the device.
