Default Any WORKING IRC clients?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello-

Are there any IRC clients that actually work? I've tried jmirc, but that shows as being 0 bytes, and the BB says it's invalid. I tried to manually install it, but that resulted in an error that wouldn't let me open it once it was installed.

Thanks.

jmIrc 0.93 isn't compatible with the Blackberry, and the developer is no longer offering the JAD file for jmIrc 0.92, which was compatible. According to the project site, "This happened because I updated my Java environment and apparently BlackBerries didn't like it."

You might try Virca (http://www.vidarholen.net/contents/virca/).

what IRC server are you using? do you know if WLIrc will allow you to use one of those undernet.org servers?

What's the difference between an IRC client and an IM client like Verichat. If you have an IM Client is an IRC client of any value?

Is there a way to install jmIrc using a JAR file? I've only been able to install it using the JAD file.

IM tends to be a controlled environment with communications among people who already know each other. IRC is a much looser environment with communications among people who don't know each other, but may have a common interest. Think of IM as a town hall meeting, and IRC as a wild-west saloon. Usenet falls somewhere in-between.

I've found worthwhile IRC groups devoted to digital photography, FireFox programming, the Pocket PC, computer tech support, and Flash programming. The vast majority of the IRC groups are a waste of time.

Have you tried the erase command with the javaloader, as in "javaloader -usb erase program-name"?

I'm guessing it will only accept filenames with an extension (such as this_program.cod). Have you tried eFile to see what files are left on the Blackberry? I haven't used eFile lately so I don't know what it might be able to find.

Here's a link for eFile: http://www.rimroad.com/software/rim1...-rim-rim1.html.

odd, on teh site it says its free .. upon loading the app its asking for a key, but there is a free trial option, so im choosing that ..

EDIT: no worries, not a big deal ... using the .cod filename didnt work either..
