Question BES and Novell groupwise

Please Login to Remove!

good Day,

I have the following case that ill be pleased if anybody can help.

A company have Novell groupwise mail server. and they are planning to implement BES. Their enviroment is as follwoing:
- A clusted novell group wise
- An Archiving Software installed on the domain (GWArchive)

As a pre installation tasks, a trusted application key should be generated to be used for BES. i have some questions regarding this point.

- whenever they generate a new truested key? does this overwrite the existing one? as they are using an existing trusted key in running the archivment software. and in case they generated a new key; i believe that the GWArchive will be not functioning, am i right ? is there any work arround ?

- Can BES use an existing trusted key? i mean can we skip the trusted key generation step ?

I will be pleased if anybody can help in this issue as i dont have such experience in Novell enviroments

Cheers!

Regards,
hushus

Hi.

Cant be sure for the Gwarchive but in our setting here we have to trusted key and application. One for the BES and one for another application. I'm pretty sure that each application need her own key.

BES for GroupWise requires the trusted key. Just create a new key for the BES as stated in the manual.

I would just generate a new key. Using an existing key could possibly confuse your own auditing purposes when you review what keys are for which apps. Also, keep in mind the key description has to match what you generated during your BES installation.

ditto - everything above - you can have multiple keys for multiple apps - we are running the exact same environment here and have keys for both apps.
