its the same pics for 8800 only thing different was the wifi features pages.

I haven't seen anything showing AT&T plans and price for UMA? If we are going to be able to use it for voice calls then what is the price?

I am assuming it will be somewhere inline with T-Mobile's Hotspot plan for $19.99/mo. Hopefully, AT&T doesn't price gouge us like Verizon does on it's services. I guess we will have to wait until August to get the complete breakdown.

A quick google search has a site showing that you can pre-order the 8820 and it will be available August 22nd.

Did the "quick google search". Did not find the site you are talkng about here. Plenty of specification discussion on various sites, but no pre-order/release info. A link would be very helpful. Thanks.

I wonder why RIM didn't just admit their mistake and make updated keys and cover for the 8820. It just seems like the 8300's keyboard is a lot better (and has received MUCH better reviews) than the 8800 keyboard. It doesn't seem like they'd have to redesign much else to make it work with the spaced keys.

I like the 8800 keys. Also, if you look really closely at the back cover picture on the RIM 8820 website, you can see a little "WiFi" logo at the bottom center.

WOW!!!!!

Otherwise, it is an 8800 exactly. It's quite possible they used the exact same pic ;)

That was my point when I started the thread. I love my BB. I just wish there was a little more umph in the presentation. I don't quite understand their logic in producing exact clones of previous models as far as body design. It would be great to have added the camera to the new 8820. If anyone in business and public safety as I am knows, sometimes a camera is invaluable. I recently bought 20 Curves for my agency and was really surprised at the quality of the camera.

I was equally impressed by the Curve's camera. However, I am glad that the 8820 does not have a camera because of my employer's restrictions. This is the reason I had to return the Curve. I think that is also the motivation for RIM not to put the camera in the 8800 series. With today's heightened security in the U.S., there are several corporate and government locations where cameras are banned...

How about if you do NOT like the thread than do NOT READ, it !!!!!!!

Did someone force your hand on the mouse to select this thread? I think not, while I think more than one thread per subject it questionable, its called freedom of speach, until the Moderator changes it.

Also the release date is supposed to be the 24th of August or sooner

So Groovy,

The big question for me is, can you make voip calls using the 8820? To me, that would be the only reason to upgrade, please let us know.
