When you email someone in that fashion, the server converts and sends them an SMS, not an email and they only get the first few sentences, if that. When they try to reply, it's not sent directly to your phone number as an SMS; nor necessarily does the server convert it back to email to send back to you. This can vary.

Also, not always, but often, the SMS the other person recieves isn't from a phone number or email address, it's from an sms-type number like +614033. Some servers retain the identity of the sender to enable replies to work, but many don't and even more do not do so after a few hours have elapsed.

I've never heard of vtext.com so I can't comment specifically on that.

Ask your email recipient look at what email address your email is signed with and if it looks garbled have them call their cell phone provider.

Default Similar Issue

I just came across this thread searching for a resolution to a similar problem. I have an 8830 from Verizon and when I send an email to [email address], the recipient gets several lines of text that have "bis.blackberry.net" in it and then my message. Its not a real email/ sms address (looks like part of the header) and the message fails if they try to respond to it. If I send an email to the vtext.com address from my desktop or webmail, its fine. I've even sent messages to my vtext.com address and had the same issue. If I didn't know better, I would think their making me use sms to increase revenue. I realize I could just create a simple web page to send email my php and sendmail and view it from the blackberry browser but that presents another problem if when I reply to their response. Any suggestions to overcome this issue would be most appreciated.

Thanks!
