Thumbs up Trick to get past battery to low for radio use

Please Login to Remove!

Not sure if this has been posted before but I've never seen it. If your battery gets low the radio shuts off and you plug it in you can't place a call because it says the battery it to for low radio use. I have found a work around for this. Plug in the phone then open the back and quickly remove the battery just enough to disconect power and replace it. It will do a quick reboot like 10 sec. or so. When it comes back up you will be able to use the phone right away. I've tried this on the 7100t and 8100 works on both and with all firmware that I have installed. The hardest part of this is getting the damn back off. I hope this helps someone get around this "feature"

i never understood why, you cant place a call after you install the charger, when battey is too low...

makes no sense to me, i mean if it's on AC, it should let you call

I think it's because there isn't enough power to charge the phone and make a phone call at the same time.

I think the phone runs from the battery and only the battery. So even though you have it plugged in your still dealing with a low battery until it becomes charged enough.

And I am sure that the battery goes into protect mode for a reason. I think running it all the way down can have very adverse effects on the battery.

But I guess if your in a jam and need to make a call....you NEED to make a call!

I don't use the BB to make calls. If I need to make a call I swap into a nokia phone that was designed specifically as a phone and this very problem is one of the reasons why.

I love my BB, but I just don't consider it a 'phone' to be quite honest.

Wouldn't that cause a current spike in the phone? At my job we deal w/ burned out semiconductors all the time, so I'll be hesitant to try that.

Also I read somewhere that the bottom 20% and the top 20% of charging causes the most "wear and tear" for a battery. That's why the Priuses are programmed to keep their batteries at ~50% all the time, just FYI.

trick i use is, cell phone will dial emergency number... 911 ,, so if you are really in a bind let it dial.. but before the first ring , hang up,, there will be enough enegry to make a call before the radio turns off again
