Wow!
All I can say is WOW - It's only been one day, and 40 people have replied to this thread! I wasn't expecting anywhere near this level of response.
There's a surprising number of nextel users on here it seems. And from the replies so far, it seems like they have great service in the states. I know the iDEN service i'm on here in Toronto combined with the blackberry is fabulous - the best of any cell phone company I've seen, so it's good to know that the quality level continues in the US as well.
mikealdo: That 47 minute phone call you're describing is insane. I've had longer calls while driving through city traffic and on the highway, but nothing like the tunnel.
Finch: you should checkout Telus's MIKE 7510 or 7520. The few times I've had to call customer service, they've quickly transfered me to the "data department" who were very knowledgable about blackberrys. They had multiple units there with different setups, and can try out anything necessary WITH you still on the phone. Makes it great for problem solving.
Thanks for all your input, and keep the replies coming! It's definately generating some good info for me, and hopefully others will find it useful too. I still find it incredible how many of you have replied so far

Nextel
Using a BB 7520
Have been using Nextel for two years. Occasional dropped calls due to some dead spots. Overall, pleased with the service. Was outstanding during the two hurricanes, last year, as the direct connect was the only way I could stay in contact with my family.

BB 7100g
We (law firm where I work) use a Good server for all of our BB 957's and we just installed BES 4.x. We are testing my 7100g, a 7290, and an older 957.
So far we like the BES better than the Good. BES gives us a ton of options that the Good server did not.

Lakeland, Florida - Halfway between Orlando and Tampa (I travel all over the S.E.)
Nextel 7520
A few dead spots here and there, but overall the service is OK. They need to improve the dead spots. FOr the most part, the service works, just wish they would work on those spots.
We had a major problem here during the hurricanes, as many of the Nextel towers here were affected by the loss of electrical and has generator issues. Its one of the reasons our local sherriff's office changed over service to Verizon.

7520 on Nextel
Coverage is decent, unless you go in an office building. I also hate the ticking Nextels cause on speakers, as well as the monitor flicker. My i830 did this as well.

On Cingular (used to be ATT here)
7100g works great. Much better than the Kyocera Palm Phone.

My service has always been good. Only drops over the Williamsburg Bridge. I've been luck so far I guess.

No troubles with coverage. Vodafone can drag their feet sometimes though.
Previously had a 7230 with O2 in the UK whilst living in Norway???? That had good coverage tooooooo.

Where are you located?
Delafield, WI (20 Miles West of Milwaukee)
Which celular provider are you with?
T-Mobile
What blackberry are you using?
I have a 7100T
In brief, how's the quality of their service? (ie: dropped calls, reception, network errors, etc)
Coverage is NASTY here. I can't drive 20 miles without loosing a call, reception is sparse. Can't make a call from my LR and I don't have a land Line, I have the dreaded reboot problem. When the contract is up here I come Verizon and a new Samsung i730. The 7100t is an adequate PDA but as a phone it sucks.
