Default 6 month old PEARL battery DIES in 10 HOURS!!!!! HELP

Please Login to Remove!

Well ive had my pearl for about 6 months now and my battery all of a sudden will only stay charged for 10 hours then the radio turns off.. what gives.. i prepped the battery at first and then i just used the phone normally and put it on the charger every night before bed then took it off in the morning like ive dont with all my phones.. could there be something draining my battery.. i was thinking it could be the "searching for signal" because i barely get reception in my house and its on and off.. but even when im at work the whole day and i get full service it drains so fast

any ideas??tia

I would say to try and replace the battery as the first step. Or, as further testing, try leaving the wireless radio off for a day to see if it drains as fast. That way you could kind of narrow it down to the battery.

In addition to having a bad physical battery two things to check:

1.) Do you have un-used applications running in the background (use Alt+Esc to view apps that are running).

2.) Are you in a weak signal area where your phone is frequently searching for the network?

Ok...one more!

3.) Did you recently install any new apps that might continually interact via the Internet? IM programs or some map program?

1.the only active apps are, messages, home, phone, browser and BB messenger.. i guess they are always there

2.i am in a weak signal place sometimes, but even when im in a full signal place the whole day it drains the same

3. nope..

i wonder if BB will cover the battery since this would be defective

Well then it sounds like the battery...sorry! Do you use OEM chargers? I think you can probably pick a battery up pretty cheap now that the phone has been out for a while.

Sorry!

Actually charging your battery every night it's not good for your battery you might want to try and burp the battery cell once or twice by that I means use it until it completely drains out and charge it back up.

Memory Effect

The term "memory" in reference to batteries means the battery "remembers" its usual discharge point and superficially "needs" a charge whenever it hits that point. In other words, if you have a NiCad that always gets discharged to only 50% of its capacity, it will eventually not run below that 50% mark if you ever wanted to discharge it to a lower point.

From this if you charge it every night your battery is pobably not running at it's full capacity.

Generally, you want to discharge the battery completely and recharge it completely once a week to keep it in top performance. Many people say that Lithium-Ions dont have a memory, but Ive found that not to be true in most cases. Although at this point it sounds like you are letting it die and shut its self off, if you are not though, try that a few times to see if it helps any. Let it get to low battery, play an mp3 on loop or something till it shuts off, turn it on a few times and try to get it to where it wont turn on at all, then charge it fully again. Cycling it like this a few times might help it, it might not.

EDIT: Didnt see the prior post before posting this, or I would not have repeated what 30PSI said almost verbatium lol.

To add to this, I really only toss mine on the charger when its low. And I tend to always have my laptop to toss it on the usb charger if I need to.

Lithium Ion batteries don't have memories. The instructions that come with your battery/device will say discharge the battery to 15-20% 3 times and then to charge when ever you want. I've done this with all my BB's and have had good luck with batteries. Occasionally, I'll run it down to 20% but usually charge each night.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think there's too many apps running in the background? I agree the battery should be fully discharged also.

If you discharge your LiIon battery completely all the time you will reduce the life of your battery, but then, what do I know.

You could ask T-Mo to test your battery.
