I am wondering whether this program uses a lot of data as I am on a limited data plan. I am allowed 150MB per month from my network, anything extra is going to be expensive. That's why I haven't dl the googlemap, although I am so keen on it.

I think I figured out why many of you are having problems connecting. The problem is related to DNS. The server changed its IP address recently so if the DNS hasn't propogated yet people's blackberries are resolving the incorrect IP Address, and cannot connect. If you are having this problem try flushing the DNS cache on your BES Server.

Open up command prompt.
Start..Run.. "cmd".
Type ipconfig /flushdns

This should resolve the DNS issuse. For the next week I will leave the server up with the old IP while people are clearing their DNS cache.

Note: You could also just restart the BES server if you don't want to mess with command prompt. That should clear it up also.

Spotted Track My Journey on the web and thought it was of interest. It doesn't seem to work on the BB 8800 in Oz and it looks like it may be for a dedicated UK network. Its a same as the I/F looks good.

It is most likely a problem with your network settings. Look here:
themoos » Blackberry Tracker

I've added a new little feature to Blackberry Tracker. It allows you to track your friends from your phone. Go to http://bb.tech9computers.com/mobile on your Blackberry to access the mobile site. Currently you can just track friends right now on the mobile site, although I will probably be adding more soon.

tomdkat, if you haven't already, check your firewall. Is it enabled?

xoclipse, The mobile viewing is great. Your apps is getting better and better. I'm still waiting on the public version of it so I can share my location publicly so my family can view my location.

Can I request an update to the website when you get a chance to make it public, I would ask it to have it refresh every minute or so automatically, just like the mobile version. Public or not Public, the refresh would make it great. My server would time out after hours of refreshing if I were to either use a PHP Refresh or Meta-Refresh.

Other than that, it's great. Seems like the DNS issue is fixed and its easier for me to login to the client. Great job overall.

I'm glad that it is working out for you well! As far as allowing your family to view your location, that feature is already done.

Register an account for them.

Login into that account, go to Find User, and look up the user that you use on your Blackbery. Once you find the user, click on it and then go to "Request permission to see location...".

After you have sent the request, login to your account, and accept the Location Request.

Now your family can use the login you created and go to Track Friends. They can also use this login on the mobile site as well.

For the refresh on the mobile site, I'll probably throw a drop down box on the page that lets you select how often it updates(30 seconds, 1 min, etc,.).
