Could someone put up some screencaps of the new AIM app working in action? Are there any online somewhere - would love to see it....

I dropped the money for JiveTalk - but I don't feel bad about it because I like having all my clients in one application. Still, there should be a free option for all the services so I'm glad this is out - and I hope they make it available for all 8300 line phones.

Has anyone bought the T-mobile 8320.. activated the T-mobile service, downloaded the service books for the IM clients, then cancelled the service, unlocked the phone and used it on AT&T?? thats the only way to get it to work on another carrier maybe??

There's a thread floating around by JohnClark where he has a .zip file that has the .alx and .cod files you need to get the clients onto your phone. Just use JLCmder and manually load them onto your phone.

We're still waiting for ANYONE to post service books so we can manually load those onto the phones to get the clients to actually work.

It only works for 8320's

When your Blackberry Browser connects to the "homepage" it recognizes your device as an AT&T 8300, and only gives you the options for Yahoo, Google, and BB Messenger. (although for a couple hours yesterday I had links for AIM and MSN)

If you hold Alt-Shift-H it will actually display your VendorID and I'm pretty sure they can pick up on that and realize that you're trying to cheat your way into some IM apps. So they only provision the service books for 8320/8800 with a VendorID of 100. Because when I called T-Mo on Friday (when I got the phone) they knew I had an 8300 even though I hadn't registered it on the website, and the service book I have for my browser is for an 8300/8310 (not 8320)

No, what I'm saying is that you have to bypass T-Mo completely. By manually installing the .alx and .cod files and manually putting the service books in, the IM Clients will <should!!> work.

I have the clients with older service books, and they're running, but they won't connect since the books are outdated.

In case you did not know this...there are two Instant Messaging assigned to shortcut (I)..AIM and ICQ. Initially in the 8320 default, ICQ is assigned to shortcut I. If you use AIM, but not ICQ, then you can just simply move AIM icon to after ICQ icon then it will automatically assign the shortcut I to AIM.

For more info on home screen shortcuts, check this out.

maybe i am misreading something but i dont understand what your trying to say... because i want to implement this for bb mess and winliv mess...because when i press 'N' i get bb mess but i want it to shorcut to winlive. i would just delete bb mess to get winlive to be assigned to that shortcut key but i use both...

Simply move the Windows Live Messenger icon after Blackberry Messenger icon. Basically the assigned shortcut will go to whichever is the last one in home screen if there is more than one assigned shortcut for the same key. Gotcha?
