I just checked - you can no longer buy a 7290, or any of the earlier models - so, umm, I think they have been evolving, and will continue to do so!

Funny, if the iPhone manages to make the same market share inroads against RIM that the Mac has made against Windows, I don't think RIM should worry a lot. Maybe a valid comparison though, I think the iPhone will settle into the same small market niche that the Mac has occupied since its inception.

As for "far superior platform to Windows," I think you need to revisit the definitions of "facts" vs. "opinions" as that rash statement is clearly ONLY the latter, not the former. And, "narrow minded" does not equate to "disagrees with you" while we're at it.

This is pretty much the opinion of most who write about computers. Most concede Mac OS is better, but Windows is better marketed and entrenched. Hell, even John C Dvorak, who hated Macs for years and conceded and now owns one.

This thread is ridiculously stupid...you guys give the photoshoppers of the world a reason to live.

and also the comparison between macs vs. windows is not valid for 2 reasons, in the pc world MS rules the world, in the pda world RIM does not dominate, and the pda market is tiny in the world cell phone market. Also in the computer world, MS does not make computers they are as they are in the pda world a software company, Apple is mainly a hardware company that uses their own OS, much different.
And I'm with Argonne but everyone has different opinions, nothing wrong with that. Its really a good thing.

Nice!
That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

#1 Blackberry prices drop ALL the time. The 8700 I bought last year dropped in price numerous times over the course of the year. Besides, there is no such thing as overcharging. If a user thought a phone is worth $600 and they were not forced to buy the phone, then they really have nothing to complain about.

2. The Phone DOES belong to you. If you want to run it over with your car and flush it down a toilet, thats up to you. Just don't expect apple to pay to fix it.
If I were to install a 3rd party firmware hack on my Blackberry in hopes that it will unlock my phone or give me some other nifty feature, I don't think I'd have much luck getting it fixed by RIM. What if Verizon 8800 users decided to try to hack the firmware to enable the GPS, would they be entitled to a refund? Is it any less their phone?

Apple didn't disable anyone's iphone. People installed 3rd party shitty untested software, ruined the phone's firmware, and then are crying that apple doesn't spent thousands trying to decypher what every jackass programmer out there might have done.

So many worlds....so confused, why dont we start a time vs space argument while we're at it?

Think the point they were trying to make is the price dropped like two weeks after release, not over a year, everything drops in price evently, quite an unvalid point.
The belonging argument is a lot to do with how little you can add/change on the device. Cant change the ring tone? oh, now you are going to let people change it, but only with a ring tone that is brought from Apple? But at the same time, to complain about feature that were known, the question is, why would you buy it if you dont like it?

yo man, if the 9xxx does indeed look like that, it'll make the iphone extinct.

it looks better than an iphone.

the OS is probably going to be insane on this device. who's taking pre-orders ? i want one.

That's your opinion, but like him or not he has been writing about computers and technology for 20+ years and knows what he's talking about.
