i have two questions. I notice when i call some of my friends it plays a song while i wait for the phone to connect. How do i go about uploading a song to replace the ring when someone is calling and it goes to my voicemail? Also how do i upload a mp3 file for my voicemail? It sucks trying to record a song second hand, when i have the crystal clear file right here to play.

Having a song play while a caller is waiting for an answer is usually setup through your carrier. Actually, I think both questions would be carrier related considering each carrier will vary on how to go about doing these things.

Some carriers (Verizon) let you use a song to greet the caller with a song instead of rings. For a price of course (you don't think VZN gives anything away do you?). You gotta check with your carrier and see if you have the privilege of paying to have your callers hear U2.

They are called "Answer Tones". They are sold by your provider. I don't know anything else other than this. I've tried purchasing and downloading them BUT apparently you have to have the current OS to run some of these features.

To place a high quality recording on your voicemail, Be sure to call from a landline and use a good quality speaker at the right level. It will take some experimenting but you can get a great quality greeting.

If you have Cingular you just go their website and under shop hit ringtone and more. Then on that page should be an option for Answer tones. If you click on that it will bring you to a seperate page that you can pick your answer tones. After you set up your account you can customize when and who gets which answer tone when they call as well as setting others to still get the original ring. o set up just click on the tab that says MY ANSWER TONES. Then click register and your all set. The service cost you $.99 a month and each answer tone I think is $1.99 or something like that. They expire after a year. HTH!

A side note about the quality. Some are really great but others kind of sound scratchy like an old record player when people hear them.

thanks for the answer!!

pretty stupid that they charge for the service and that i cannot simply upload my .wav .mp3 file to set my answer tone.... If they store you voice recording i dont see why not to allow the same file size recording to be uploaded in file format, rather than live.
