I have the latest tmobile os as of 3 weeks ago. My phone has never been dropped or damaged in any way. As of yesterday my handset stopped working. When I receive calls I can't hear anyone. They can hear me. When I make a call I can't hear crap. I'm forced to use the speakerphone now to make and receive calls. Anyone else has or seen this issue. Don't tell me my phone is now a paper weight. I got it on Nov 06 new from tmo.I assume the warranty is done. Maybe this is an os issue. I hope it is but I doubt. My previous 4 nokia's have never had an issue like this.Man I'm pissed.
Dean, you should have a one year warranty, so it would appear you are still within that. You need to refer to TMo for details on that.
Have you tried pulling the battery to reboot, and see if the issues continue? I don't think it is an OS issue, but as a last resort before sending for a replacement, you could downgrade the OS to one you know worked well and see if it makes any difference.
Some 8100's had issues with the earpiece speaker. You're definitely not the first. Contact TMo for warranty replacement. They will send you a refurb'd replacement. Backup the data from the old one and restore it on the new one. Then, on the old device, go to Options >Security Options >General Settings >Menu key >Wipe Handheld. Put your old one in the box and return it asap. Good to go. TMo has a good replacement procedure.
And, there are good 8100s on here from reputable sellers often. Plus, like John said, a new 83xx might be in your future. Your timing could be perfect.
Holy crap I just called back. With my good 7 yrs as a customer, the curve is only $350! Jesus. Hmm, paying $350 and having this pos go out in another yr. I don't know..I only paid $200-250 for my Pearl. The curve looks kinda big anyways compared to the Pearl. I would have to see this phone in person. I'm sure it's not that bad in size.
Dean, I was a very very good TMo customer for over 10 years (and they reminded me each phone call) and my upgrade price would have been $399. They reminded how loyal I was to them a few too many times. Their loyalty to me was zilch.
I'm glad I used an AMERICAN EXPRESS card to buy the phone. This is a tip for anyone here who doesn't own an AMEX card. Anything you buy (electronic goods) with amex automatically doubles your warranty up to one year. Well I looked online to see if I did use my Amex to buy the Pearl and I did. I filed a claim just now and they will reimburse me $270 back to my CC within 2-3 weeks. Sweet!! They may or may not want the phone shipped back to them. It depends. It would be sweet to keep the pearl and use it as a backup. I might get that curve for $80 now. The wifi is what's selling me.
The cheapest Amex you can get is the Starwood Amex, which is only $30 a yr fee to own. Anything you buy racks up points for free hotel stays at The W, Westin, Sheraton, Four Points, etc.., which is great by itself.
Thanks everyone! I'm in a better mood. FU Tmo!! You Bastages!
