Default MultiTap Bug

Please Login to Remove!

I dont know if anyone else has had this problem, i havent been able to track it down on the internet, but ever since i upgraded from 71 to 96 i havent been able to use multitap. dont get me wrong i like suretype, but i miss using multitap because i was really good at it. when i use multitap with the 96 os (and 101 whatever # the new one is) it doesnt alwys kick in. for instance i'll be typing the word "it" and sometimes it will come out as "it" but most times it comes out as "uut" i've changed the speed of typing in settings to fast, but that doesnt do anything anymore. i've noticed that it will just do this randomly not depending on how fast or slow you are typing.

again, if anyone happens to have a copy of OS 71 (Cingular) or know a fix for this issue PLEASE let me know. aside from that problem the 96 os is the most stable i've used, media is much better.

Use this link to find a version of .71. Just browse through the GSM carrier's download pages until you find one.

BlackBerry Operating System Downloads - BlackBerryFAQ

I don't remember which carrier is still hosting 4.2.0.71 but I know a couple of them are. Once it's installed to the device it doesn't make a difference which carrier released it.

Default Me too!

I have that exact same problem with the multitap! Except at times mine does it with a few words each sentence. I broke my old Pearl (which didn't have this problem) , so when I bought a new one, and it came loaded with the new software (4.2.1.107) and when I called T Mobile, the customer service rep said it would fix itself after a week or so, but it hasn't yet... Also, my phone tends to freeze up for a minute or so when I take the keyguard off after receiving an instant message. Anyone have an idea on if it's a software or hardware problem? Please let me know while it's still under warranty! Thanks

Seriously. T Mobile's customer service has always been pretty good, at least since I've had them. But they screwed the pooch on this one. He said they had several cases of this problem documented, but apparently they hadn't fixed any of them...

I had this same problem on my pearl. When i was using .64 and .73 I had no multitap issues. I believe all OS after .73 have that multitap problem. Its an OS problem, not a hardware one.

It's a problem with all 4.2.1.xx OS's. No fix has been released short of downgrading the OS back to 4.2.0.xx
