i have an 8320, after reading this thread, i checked out jivetalk. installed the demo. its much better than the pre-installed im apps. so nice to not be limited to 30 buddies on aim. very nice program. its just like trillian for you desktop

i also free'd up some memory by uninstalling the preloaded chat clients, which is a nice bonus

Consider this a warning, continue it and you'll have a vacation.
Why was it thread crapping? I recommend JiveTalk/BeeJive which was relevant to the thread.

Someone's having a bad day.

You never recommened JiveTalk, you recommended only apps that are not made for the BB. I don't care that you like the iPhone over the BB-whatever floats your boat, but this is a BlackBerry forum and a thread about AIM and instant message apps for the BB.

Yes, whether I am having a good or bad day is relevant.

Look again carefully, I quoted John Clark recommending BeeJive: Jivetalk and said "Recommend this as well". Which meant I also recommended BeeJive: Jivetalk. It does work for the BB cause others state that it does.

Yeah, that's not relevant...

Does JiveTalk use the DataPlan, or treat every IM as a text message?

phungy, the reason you're catching flak is not because of your advice towards jivetalk, it was because of your statement "Glad I ditched my BlackBerry for an iPhone."

This is a BlackBerry user forum, what kind of response do you expect with that type of talk? The iPhone appeals to an entirely different crowd and I think that few users here would be able to consider an iPhone for multiple reasons that keep them as BlackBerry users. We're all happy that you are pleased with your purchase, but don't expect to start an iPhone fad on these forums.

That being said, I've used google talk since my 7520 and have had it connected to my AIM and MSN accounts through jabber transports and have never had trouble with it. It's a pretty good application for free, and supports all the other IM clients provided you are handy with setting such things up. (Using MirandaIM or other jabber client)

Rezultz, welcome to the Forums, JiveTalk uses data, not SMS.
