Default Can't use Bluetooth w/ UMA

Please Login to Remove!

I have officially determined that I cannot use a Bluetooth headset or phone device with UMA. I have tried two different headsets with no luck.

What just got me upset is I purchased the AT&T 5632 Bluetooth home phone. This phone is amazing because I can answer my cell phone through my home phone. Guess what? Works great when my phone is on EDGE but drops calls when on UMA. It actually worked horribly when the Curve was on UMA.

What confuses me is that I can sync data with my laptop on bluetooth while on a call with UMA with no problems.

Anyone have any luck with their phone? By the way, I have three curves and tested them all.

It's a frequency conflict. You may be able to change channels on your router and get better results but it is a known issue.

I just called T-Mobile and got the same spill. Change my router channel to 1,6, or 11. After that all you can do is cross your fingers.

Has anyone had any luck with different channels on their router? I hate to say it but my UMA is working better with the .180 software but my bluetooth is working worse with UMA now. Weird!

It is kind of funny I have to chose between free calls on UMA and hold a phone to my head or use my convenient headset and get charged for minutes. It is a shame I have to choose. This is a huge oversight on their part. I shouldn't have to lose a feature to gain one. Kind of asinine IMHO.

My Linksys WRT54g is set for channel 1 and I have no problems at all using my Plantronics Bluetooth with my Curve over UMA.

I too am having the same problem with Bluetooth and UMA. I have the ATT Bluetooth phone that allows me to a nswer calls from my cell onto the phone. the phone is connected to the BB as a bluetooth device. But when the phone is in UMA, I cannot get calls on the phone. Only when the BB is in edge mode can I receive cell phone calls on the ATT phone. this is a bummer because I purchased the UMA package to go with the ATT phone, so I could eventually get rid of my land line. Don't know what to do now.

Exactly my issue. The wierd thing is I could at least talk a little on my curve with Bluetooth and UMA. I just had no idea when it would drop my call. Since the last update (180) I cannot even check my voicemail on UMA with Bluetooth.

It may not help your situation, but I just improved my UMA by doing a "Wipe Handheld." After I restored, I was able to use a bluetooth headset and WPA2 security on my router. The WPA2 had been a big no no before. It was a 25 minute call. Also on a completely different router with WPA2 that had given lots of static on a call, it was clear. Have only had short calls otherwise, but it seems way more stable.

I'm on OS .180 and was trying to reinstall it to fix some disconnect problems. Didn't have to as the wipe seemed to have reset something.

Today was a challenge! I disconnected my new router (dir-655) after trying the new firmware that didn't help matters at all. I installed my old Linksys WRT54GS and then tried everything out...Still a no go..Then I did a wipe on one of my three curves and still no good.

If you haven't seen the new AT&T Bluetooth phone you do not know what you are missing. Unfortunately I will be missing it because I have to return it because it doesn't work with UMA. I talk 6K minutes a month and need as many free minutes as possible.

One thing for sure is Bluetooth worked better with the old software with UMA. 180 is more stable with UMA but 180 and bluetooth=No cool bluetooth phone for me

DD-WRT router, channel 1. Jawbone BT Headset. Hours and hours of UMA calls, no issues. I love this setup.

My bluetooth with UMA worked much better with the .175 software, now I cannot even get it to initiate the call at all when using certain BT devices.

I just spoke with T-Mobile Blackberry tech support and the representative felt our pain. We she comes to work her Curve connects to T-Mobile's hotspot and she immediately drops calls with her Bluetooth headset.

She said the biggest problem they have is with people's call log and information getting erased.

Dave, your reply concerns me. The problem made the subject of this thread is a very real problem. All of my bluetooth devices do not work with the UMA activated. It is only when I am operating on Edge that my bluetooth devices work. This is particularly disturbing since I purchased the ATT bluetooth phone to use with my curve when I am using UMA.

So, I am perplexed why you posted that you have not received any concerns about this issue. If that is the case, suffice it to say that it is a very real problem.
