Can you guys check something the next time this happens?

Before you cycle the radio, see if BBWeather still works (do an update) and/or see if you still get pushed email (send an email to your BES address or your carrier BIS account).

I have a theory that the data connection isn't being lost, it's just that the internal flag that says "i'm connected" is corrupted. BBWeather doesn't check the flag before trying to send and I don't think anything checks the flag inbound.

I have tested it and when i lose the data connection, BBweather works fine.
Push mail thru Gmail works fine. But when i delete mail from my BB and select "delete from handheld and mailbox" it doesnt delete from my gmail mailbox.
Also opera mini beta 3 works fine with the evdo connection lost.

This proves that your theroy is correct. Now how do we fix it??

I've got some other issues to report to RIM tomorrow, I'll include it.

Since the problem happens with multiple carriers, you can (and should) also send a message to [email address] describing the problem and send a link to this thread.

I haven't been surfing the web much lately, but tonight I came across this issue then waited to jot this specific error down since RIM wanted to know the exact verbage. Much to my suprise, I closed out the error and tried to resume from the website and it worked. I did upgrade to the new os software from Verizon (mine is the sprint 8830) so maybe that took care of it. I will keep trying and see if I can replicate the issue.

I'm a new 8830 user and I'm having the same exact issues. Hopefully the pearl doesn't have this same issue.

Downgrade to the VZW 4.2.2.66 or upgrade to the TELUS 4.2.2.176...seems to have fixed my problems.

Same thing here... I have the 8830 and im on Sprint network. I hadnt even thought to go bck out and into manage connections and toggle the network connection off and on until i read this. Ive just been without internet for a couple days until now. it worked, but why do we have to gothrough that to get the connection to work?

Hmmm I havent tried that. Thank you.

I have been pulling the battery rather often. I agree it is unfortunate that we have to do this. Any other ideas?

Sometimes it is simply just network issues. I was in a a rural area recently and my EDGE kept falling to edge, but toggling the mibile network off and on brought it back to EDGE.

I am wondering to what extent it is a carrier or device issue. Toggling on and off didn't work. In my case, I reside in a metropolitan area.
