I am about to receive a Blackberry 8820 and I was looking forward to Push Email (or whatever it's called). My friend is on O2 and he said that O2 provide a free email address (customer@o2.co.uk) for all customers which pushes mail to his device. But when I asked Orange about such a feature they didn't have an answer. They told me that I will need to set up my POP3 - but that's not a push facility.
Does anyone know if this is correct - does Orange not provide email facility which can utilise the Push Email technology on my phone?
If not then is there anywhere that I can purchase an email address with the facility to push to my phone?
Thank you! As you can see I know nothing about this!!
If Orange offers a BB dataplan, then email is push. All email on a BB is push for that matter.
I do not recommend using the email address given to you by the carrier. The only way to get the email is via the BB. You do not control it, so if you ever change carriers, that address is gone as is the email sent to it. Plus it there is no SPAM filter associated with that address at RIM.
What one does is set up to 10 email address/accounts in BIS and all email in those accounts is automatically pushed to the BB. Make sure you have "Leave mail on Server" selected however.
I suggest you read the FAQ on here as well. there is much good info there, especially to a BB newbie.
Yes, but remember that all other e-mails but the Orange one and GMail and Yahoo! will be pushed every 15 mins. As above, I concur in not using the Orange address.
