Default Calendar sync'ing

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all me again, Somebody please help me I have never been able to get this right on any phone I've ever had. I just bought a BB 8100 and want to synchronize with a laptop calendar/planner. On my laptop I have MS Works but any calendar/planner will do even if I have to download it. I just don't want to do everything twice to get my laptop and phone to show the same appointments. One big snag is I am not using a BES nor do I intend to contract with one. I want to sync using the cable and the BB Desktop manager (V 4.2) that came with my 8100. Thanks for the help

Rem, that is very simple. You would sync with MS Outlook--quite seamless and easy to do with BIS.

Thanks J, unfortunately my laptop came with Outlook Express which dosent have a calendar. My MS Works (V 8.0) is like a compressed version of MS office products for laptops, I think.

And Works won't work, so to speak, for syncing to a BB, hence my direction the Outlook. And since Express doesn't have a calendar, I didn't suggest it.
But fortunately, your laptop will allow MS Outlook to be loaded...

Here are the other PIM apps you can sync with, directly quoted from the RIM download link. So, you are limited, and as i stated, Outlook is seamless and really is the most universally accepted PIM for BB users.

For the non-business user, Outlook is typically your easiest bet. Unfortunately, that requires purchasing MS Office.

But I see now they have "NEW! Yahoo PIM!" on the list. That might be worth looking into.

What app are you referring to? I've been using gcalsync and while it works I routinely get appointments placed in the wrong time slot and duplicates.
