Judging from their site, the program is still in beta testing.

No, it is installed when Cingular users install the latest T-mobile handheld code.

I'm curious if someone at RIM is kind of upset at TMO now. They only excluded their vendor ID from the ALX file, which possibly resulted in a rather unexpected shower of new users from other vendors. heh.

ok, I have really resisted using any kind of Instant Messenger program cause I am just an old fuddy duddy with 2 teenaged kids (need I say more). But you guys have really got me interested in trying to do this on my 7520. And since Dogg got it to work maybe there is hope for me.
Can this app be used to send a text message to someone other than BB users?

Appears to be BB only for now. There are rumors of more...

Anyone read the IT Policy info on Blackberry Messenger on the RIM support site? Auditing can be turned on as a policy from the BES. Good thing I'm the admin or I would be paranoid.

We have a couple of 7520 users that have not yet upgraded to the latest OS. Is this necessary before Messenger will work?

OK I just installed on my NEXTEL 7520 seems to be working ok. funny I didn't have to load the .alx file. after I did the java loader using jwaters instructions it just rebooted and the icon was on my ribbon. if someone has a chance look me up pin 400782EB.
Don't want to randomly intrude on too many people checking to see if this thing works.

Default This one is better.

I've been trying out an application that is similar to this one, but I think is better. It's kind of like "text calls" - you just use phone numbers to call your friends to set up the chat session. Its pretty damn cool! http://www.rimroad.com/software/rim1...-rim-rim1.html

N00b alert!

I'm wondering how I can add buddies without having to add an entry into my address book first? Is it possible? Or am I stuck making address book entries before I can add people?

Default I want it also

I am running Cingular 7290 with the latest version of Desktop Manager 4.0.1.10 dated April 27, 2005 and the latest handheld software at 4.0.0.219. I don't see the three files in the common files folder. How do I get the Messenger software? Also, I don't have a user id and password the BlackBerry beta site.
