Default Holux Slim 240 - Taking Very long

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I just bought a Holux GPS Slim 240 and it is very small and pretty accurate. The only problem is it usually takes a good 10 min or more for it to locate a position. Is this normal? The Book says on a cold start it should 42 seconds. Not sure if there is something that i can do to fix this or maybe just a bad device.

Anyone else using this product encounter the same problem? If not how long from a cold start does it take to get a position?

Thanks

I have this model and it takes no time to synch to the satellites. Wonder if its your unit? Wouldn't be located in a city perhaps?

The only time mine acted sketchy was when I was in downtown denver, lots of tall buildings

Mine was taking a long time to get a lock on the satellites as well the first few times I turned it on. Try leaving it on for 15-30 minutes after it gets a lock, and see if that helps. The satellites send down position information for all of the other satellites in the system, but it takes a while to download all of this information. After leaving mine on for a while, it now acquires the satellites much faster.

That's a good point. I left mine on the first time on for some time, maybe that's why it synchs so fast for me.
