Looking for a back cover for Curver that "hides" the camera
Please Login to Remove!
Anyone aware of availability of a back cover for Curve that has no cut outs for camera? I work one week a month in a location that does not permit camera devices and do not want to be with out BB for that time.
Thanks in advance.

I will look around a bit I know this has been discussed before. From the point of view of Corporate Security, if I saw you coming in with a phone I knew had a camera and investigated I would assume you where planned on using it by trying to hide it.

This would be used overseas in a country where the security guards have no clude whata blackberry is let alone that it has a "hidden" camera.

If they are so oblivious, then why not use just a small bit of electrical tape or duct tape on the back and say that you have a crack in the housing that you are holding together?

Or just put a gel or any other case that covers it while still affording access to the keys, etc.
E-
P.S. there was another member who had the same issue but needed to go to a building that day. They opted for the electical tape on the inside of the battery cover.

I'm in almost the same boat as the original poster. I would love to find a battery cover that still looks "professional" (meaning no tape over the lens) but without any cutouts for the camera. The place I work in isn't a secure location, but camera phones are "frowned upon" plus I have no use for the camera, but I love everything else about my curve. I'm still hoping that seido may make a version with no camera cutouts, but I haven't seen anything new from them in a while.

If cameras are frowned upon, then maybe if yours is found, you will be frowned upon also? What is better, doing without the BB for a few hours a day or losing the job?
If you get caught with a covered up camera device as a previous poster suggested, my guess is that security and the company wouldn't be real happy.
Security measures are there for a reason. I wouldn't try to circumvent them if I were you.

I agree with you whole heartedly. Thats why I made my arguments along time ago that cameras on cell phones are a waste and could only cause trouble.

So, instead of paying $20 or whatever for a back cover that puts your job in peril if found spend $40 or $50 on an old beater 7230 or 7290 blackberry and switch as needed.

I have to switch phones whenever I go to court. I do expert witness testimony on occasion and having a camera in many So Cal courts is a huge No No. I would not try to sneak mine in, it's not worth it especially because it gets X-Rayed. I would rather be safe then sorry.

Yea it would be great if I could find a battery cover that covered the camera also. I spend a lot of time at certain clients where I need my Blackberry for emails as well as calls but can't take it in because of the camera. I'd be willing to pay $25-$35 for a battery cover as long as it looked professional.

My Job wouldn't be in peril if I covered the camera with a cover. I've spoken with security at the companies about it and they had no issues.

Why don't you people just buy a used 8700 that will work for you just fine. For your calendar abd email all you have to do is sync with your computer.

Aren't there BlackBerry 8800s that came without the camera?

So this bloke can just get an 8800 instead.
I've always fancied the Silver White Verizon 8830.
What I would do if I had the time is get the T-Mobile 8800 and buy the Silver White unmarked 8830 shell from CNN and swap it out.
Now that's the remix!

I'd love to be able to get the 8800 but unless I'm mistaken the 8800 doesn't have the wi-fi capabilities that I've fallen in love with on my 8320. My job isn't in any kind of peril from having the camera on my current 8320, perhaps I "mis-spoke" earlier. Ultimately IMHO the camera just doesn't provide a very "professional" appearance, and since I never use the camera anyway, if I can find a new battery cover that conceals the camera and looks professional, I think it would be a good investment.
