Saw on my Verizon Wireless Administration page today that VZ Navigator is now available on the 8830.

Has anyone tried this? Is it worth $10/month?

Personally I prefer TeleNav over VZNavigator. The interface is much nicer and more user-friendly.

I didn't think TeleNav was an option for VZW users.. it was my understanding it was VZNavigator or nothing.. and I incorrect?

You can use TeleNav but you also need to use an external GPS receiver.

I haven't used it on a Blackberry, just on a regular phone. It works great and IMO is as good as other standalone GPS systems. If you have a frequent need for it, it's worth $10 a month. I would suggest trying it out for 24hrs (its like $3 or $4 for a single use) and see what you think.

I use VZNavigator on on my 8830 all the time, I personally love it. It works great and does what my Stand Alone GPS unit does, it even re-routes your trip if you make a wrong turn. It's worth the $10 to me, however I use it alot.

I really believe that the less people sign up for this app the more likely it will be that Verizon will unlock things down the line. It may not be very soon, but it will show them that we don't want to pay for a capability that ALL other carriers offer at no additional cost. Best network or not, when is too much too much?

I can't understand paying $10 for something that I can buy once for $200. Am I missing something?

I do not own one that you buy once, but don't they get you every year for map updates?

I donwloaded Vz onto my 8830 but it keeps telling me I need to update by BB software. I did that but it still keeps tell me that. Any one have any ideas on nhow to resolve ths matter

I have Blackberry version 4.2.2.148 and the Verizon rep told me that I need a newer version, I think the current release is 4.2.2.18x.

I haven't signed up for Navigator yet because its a pain to download the new Blackberry software.

You need at least 4.2.2.176, which is an incredibly simple update.
Download the OS update from Verizon.
Double-click setup.exe to install it.
Start Desktop Manager
Connect BlackBerry
after about 30 minutes... it'll be done.
