Question gprs not GPRS and it says "Data connection refuse" can't get on browser, IM, etc.

Please Login to Remove!

I just got the 7100t and can't use the browser or anything else web related. It says data connection refuse where the TMobile should be and I'm not sure if there is something wrong with the phone... or me. A little insight would apprecieated.

I encounter this alot, if a reset doesn't fix the issue (pull the battery if you have a 7100 or alt, cap, del if you have a 72xx), then you will need to speak to the carrier suport and ask them to check the account as only they will be able to sort it.

you will need to talk to the service provider of the SIM card.
Tell them you want to use it for Blackberry.
They will enable gprs and access from that to the Blackberry platform.

Once that is done look at your signal strength area at top right of screen;
[connection to Blackberry platform is Indicated by capital GPRS]
[lower case gprs indicates gprs connection only - phone, SMS & the WAP browser should work only in this case]
[gsm - only phone, SMS will work]
[X = nothing at all]

Note : you have an e-mail device that CAN make calls, not a mobile phone that can send/receive e-mails and needs some extra set up compared to a phone.

This is the problem. You need a Blackberry Data plan from T-Mobile.

Call 611 from your T-Mobile phone and have Customer Care add the BlackBerry Add-On plan to your account.

WAP will not work. You need a data plan to get any kind of data period. When you get your data plan setup, in order to get push mail with the blackberry, you need to make sure the carrier assigns the correct APN to the sim card.

How about people do a search for something like "data connection refused" and get the answer right away.

Huh?
There's nothing to figure out. You need a Blackberry Data plan. Period.

btw, i REALLY hate 611 now. we're a business customer and its stupid. in the past, you were connected to an operator immediately. now you have to go through with the SSN (which we won't have). i wish 611 would go to business support for those of us under a business account umbrella (doesn't seem like it'd be too hard to implement).

Definately the issue! If you don't have a data plan on your service, well, then you don't have access to the blackberry APN to get authenticated properly!

A little side note about 611 IVR (Automated Systems), they do have special departments that create and handel these systems, just notify the rep thaty you speak to.. Also most IVR systems are also built w/ J2EE just like blackberry programs!

Blackberry programs aren't built with j2ee. They are built with j2me & the RIM api's, and yes, there is a big difference.

cd.
