Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8320/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Currently my BB and I are in warm sunny Mexico. Who has experience with BB and Wi-Fi? If I disable/turn off the Mobile network are all emails/sms txt msgs/Internet free? At home I operate off TMO but here it bounces between Movio and Telcel. The mobile network is very good, I have edge coverage. Prior to leaving the USA the TMO CS advised to add Blackberry International Roaming for $19.95 which would give me unlimited email but not Internet or sms txt msgs. Works for me.

Can you truly make phone calls off Wi-Fi? My plan with TMO is data only, no voice package. Does TMO have to do something to my account to allow me to place Wi-Fi calls?

Finally can someone give me a brief description of what skype is?

Thank You

If I disable/turn off the Mobile network are all emails/sms txt msgs/Internet free? only the BlackBerry Services are free like email etc (you can check by going to Manage Connections > Services Status - if BIS says Wi-Fi, you're good); no calls/SMS though

Can you truly make phone calls off Wi-Fi? Yes with hotspot@home or with IM+ for $kype

My plan with TMO is data only, no voice package. Does TMO have to do something to my account to allow me to place Wi-Fi calls? I think you have to get a voice plan and get the hotspot@home add-on (I'm no T-Mo subscriber but I've read about it coz I got an unlocked 8320; FYIs came with the box)

Finally can someone give me a brief description of what skype is? desktop Skype gives you IM and free skype-to-skype calls; not sure if that works the same with skype on a BB

To use UMA calling you do need a T-Mobile voice plan.
