Default Is it my Curve or UMA or TMO that is bad????

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

For the past couple of days I cannot get the WiFi in my home/office to work. It says EDGE even when I am close to the router.

My computer is working well so I know I have a signal and the router is good. A couple of weeks ago the UMA was out for a couple of days as discussed here on the forum.....

How has your WiFi been the past 2 days.....BTW I am outside of Austin, TX in Hill Country where the Edge signal is not the best.

Thank you

Elliot

Quick and easy test is to go to a Starbucks for 5 minutes and see what your phones does. If it works fine there it is most likely your router.

Also check the Mobile Network option. Options > Mobile Network. Make sure it is set to WiFi Preferred. Then as a test turn off the Mobile Network radio and just leave the WiFi radio on.

Default Yes.....

Thank you all for the good input.....I will try these tips today.

Yes, I am specifically talking about Hot Spot at Home. Is this system different than the Hot Spot at Starbuck's?

I know I was at Starbuck's on Monday and I had 3 "bars" of signal which is a lot more than I get at home.

I have the Netgear Wireless router with the 7 internal antenna's and MIMO.....I don't know of any better router without going to the "N" which, on this forum, is not necessarily better.

Thank you

Elliot

I am getting the error J0012.0 and it says the network is busy, Try again. UMA worked fine until this morning. Could there be an issue with T-Mo?

*edit*
The error corrected itself and now works fine...

Thanks Dave. I appreciate you nicely answering the question, even though I just saw this ---> Wifi / UMA Error Codes - BlackBerryFAQ

My bad. I am usually good about researching before I spout off. Thanks again.

I got an error like that this morning when I was in the middle of an ftp upload. I only have 512kbps upload so I just waited until my upload was done on my laptop and turned on wifi and UMA came right back.

H@H has had more than a few hiccups since it's inception. I was all set to jump on a new Blackberry and get this service but all the issues reported have convinced me to wait a while. My Curve will be my 'berry until the 9000 or until T-Mobile straightens this out and gets way more consistent.

UMA has been flawless for me since TMo redesigned their UMA system last week. I wouldn't give up on it. it's an awesome service. (It only bumped off when I was doing a 100MB upload. Never has bumped me off during a download. I don't have a lot of upload bandwidth.)

We all know it was out (or at least unreliable) for about 6 days from the 7th through the 12th. The service is working great now, though.
