Does anybody know why my sound on my videos pauses for a second, and then starts playing again with the audio 3 seconds ahead?

I've asked basically the same thing 3 times and everyone acts like I'm crazy. For me its basically like the processor can't handle the video and the video and audio get out of sync for a few seconds.

I got an 8gb MicroSD card for christmas. I immediately put songs on my phone via drag and drop. Simple. I then proceeded to convert some videos. I read the sticky but was unsuccessful with the mendocer DOS prompt. So I downloaded SeaByrd Video COnverter. I have converted a full DVD, a .mov file from my camera and individual scenes from DVD's. None of them play on my Pearl. I get an error message that reads "Unable to play content". Any thoughts? Is there a setting I am missing? Any help on this would be great. Thanks.

SeaBryd on the 8130
Hi All,
Good stuff here... I'm having trouble running movies on my Pearl. It is an 8130 with Verizon. I have not seen anyone here post about this specific model. Every movie or tv show that I have converted comes up with the following error on my pearl - "Unable to play content." I am using the default values that SeaByrd comes with.
Any sugestions/similar experiences?
Thanks,
John

Can't get it to work
I've downloaded both tools. With the Mencoder tool is get an error:
'Audio LAVC, couldn't find encoder for codec mp3' ? I look at the codec download and couldn't find one for mp3.
I then downloaded the super tool and set the parameters defined at the top of this thread then converted a few files all resulting in audio only (no video). When I tried to play them on the pearl I got a 'unable to play content' message.
Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong. Also, I am using the Pearl 8130 with sprint.
Thanks

Use MP4 format on 8130
I finally got it to work on my Pearl 8130 (Sprint). I used the 'Supper' tool with the following settings:
Encoding file format: MP4
Video Codec: MPEG-4, 240x176 (4x3), 384 kbps, 23.976 fps
Audie Codec: AAC, Stereo, 64 kbps, 44100 KHz, Audio Stream Default
Converted 3 home videos with no issues.

There are a couple methods that have proven sucessful, here is the one that I use.
Will output to an mpeg4 .avi file:
Download the MPlayer encoder from here:
www.mplayerhq.hu
You don't need the codec pack for encoding to the proper format for the 8100
Then in the mencoder window encode with:
If you’re running Widows XP and if the mencoder program closes upon opening then proceed with the following steps:
1. Right click on mencoder
2. Click Create Shortcut
3. Right click on the Shortcut and click Properties
4. Change the Target to: C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe
5. Click Apply
6. Click OK
7. Now click on the Shortcut to mencoder.
Note that with the above code, the <output file> has to be an avi, but the <input file> can be just about anything you can play on your computer.
Also Note that if your input file is widescreen, this will compress it down to Pan-and-Scan ratios. You can play with the "scale=240:180" option for widescreen input and output.
Works like a dream.

I don't have a fix, but I can assure you that you're not alone in this.
I was able to work around this by downloading an earlier version, but then I ran in to the problem of the produced video apparently having only audio.
You'll probably have to ask for help on the mplayer users email list and report back here.

I downloaded blackberry video converter, and it does the whole mencoder crap, but a lot easier
Heres how i did it if anybody wants to know
Download this
Seabyrd Technologies - Blackberry Video Converter
After installing, choose your phone, then click Input, Then click choose a custom size (For pearl 8100 full screen is 240x180), click save and encode, click save to, and choose your destination, click Convert my video, and itll open a DOS window, and it will start the mencode converting (takes about 30 minutes for a full movie)
NOTE:The quality will be a little worse since you resized it.

the blackberry video converter always has the sound off from the video when I use it, the only thing I've found that works right is the blackberry desktop software for converting

Yes, yes I do.
Firstly download LAME from here:
Download LAME MP3 Encoder 3.98 : LAME MP3 Encoder is the best mp3 encoder
Copy the DLL (lame_enc.dll) into the codecs subdirectory.
Now change the command slightly:
Quote:
mencoder -vf scale=240:180 <input file> -o <output file> -of avi -ovc lavc -oac mp3lame -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=230:acodec=mp3:abitrate=64
|
You should now find the command runs without problems.
(I don't know if the resultant video works yet as the encoder is running as I type!)

Have a vzw 8130 and I convert to 3gp using Super from erightsoft.
Here are my settings:
output container: 3GP (sony ericsson)
output video codec: MPEg-4
Output audio codec: AAC
Video Scale size: 320:240
Aspect: 4:3
Frames Per Sec: 29.97
Bitrate: 576 (you can change this to lower the file size of the video)
Options: Hi-Quality, 3gp v4/v5
Audio Sampling Freq: 22050
Channels: 2
Bitrate:48
I would be interested to find out if anyone else used these settings successfully.

Greetings everyone.
Long time no post...
I am planning on updating my software soon, I am getting more and more emails about "video type not supported" now that that the 8130 is in heavy circulation.
I was wondering if people would like to see the Seabyrd Blackberry app work for the new blackberries?
If you would, please pm me or email me at so when I get some test videos I can send them to you for testing. I don't have one of these new berries so I have be reticent to update the application for lack of a test bed. But, since so many people seem to want to use it for their new berries.... here goes. I should have a beta by Monday barring any huge server crashes at work.
Baconismidog.

I just downloaded SUPER last night to play around with the tool. I've had bad luck with a lot of the other tools for conversion (audio out of sync, poor video quality).
The settings noted will work, but I don't think the video bitrate has to be set so high. RIM states the optimum bitrate at 400kbps, and I found video encoded at 384kbps to be okay, as long as I have a high quality source to work with.
When I tried playing a clip at 576kbps, the media player seemed to get bogged down, and sometimes would take a minute to respond when I tried to stop or pause.
