When I used the program I could never get it to fully work for me (as far as storing the files when I had my 8700g), but others have. So I am not sure if that is a requirement.

No, you don't have to, you are thinking of Repligo.
You can save to the BeamBerry servers, but not required.

Nope. BeamBerry does save the files to your BlackBerry. That is what email attachments would serve the purpose for.

Program? Use your email program to send them to yourself, receive them on your BlackBerry, open/save the email.
If you want to keep the document on your Media Card, transfer them via USB connection.
