That's the max number of characters in a single sms text message.

That's how large single SMS messages are.
Remember, the first S in SMS stands for SHORT.

Take it easy! Some carriers allow you to do more characters in one message but the message counts as 2 or more sms messages. I don't think Verizon supports that feature.

Wow... maybe you should switch to decaffeinated coffee. You seem a little on edge.

TMobile supports that feature. However, 161 characters is 2 text messages. The feature is carrier driven so if it doesn't do that on your device then you're out of luck.

Edit: Ditto on the decaf. Settle down....it's not the end of the world.

I think he left because he thought "VERIOZON " would allow him to do more silly things than TMO did!

i have a sprint BB and i have this same isssue my friend has a ATT curve and his auto populates if he writes 160 characters his phone automaticly creates a new message and continues writing it. its a hassle when texting and you have to go back to the main messaging screen to resend a new message its so much easier just to keep writing.

if you need to send more than a SHORT message how about just sending an email? SMS uses those intitials for a reason. Sprint means Short when it says SMS. It's not like you are limited you know. If you have a BB you most likely have a BB unlimited data plan, so just send the email.

BB's also have BB messaging service chat so if the other party is on a BB just use that. or get Jivetalk.

If the message requires more than a brief reply I send an email. Nice feature of the BlackBerry.

Your friend isnt on Sprint. Sprint made a decision and you dont like it. I understand that. But Sprint made that decision already and you whinning about it in three threads so far won't change it. It isnt that big of a deal!

You might try juice instead of coffee for a while too!
