As the other posters above stated, you must have a blackberry data plan. Not the generic data plan from the carrier, but the *blackberry* plan.
What Sith was saying is you can send PIN's from the message folder as well. BB Messenger is just a chat implementation of PIN messaging. But still need a blackberry data plan either way.
