Default Killing IT Policy without connection to the BES

How can I erase the IT policy on a device that is not anymore connected to a BES server? As the device is not "linked" I cannot send any policy wirelessly and I do not see any option on the "local port" option on the Blackberry Manager. Erasing the device has cleaned all the data, but the policy remains there.

The title of your thread makes it sound like you are trying to circumvent your IT Department which is likely why you havent' received a response yet.

Now reading further I understand what you are trying to do. As long as the device is yours and not your companys and it is no longer on the BES you have options. Easiest is to contact the former company and ask that they send a blank IT Policy (Very easy). If that is not an option start here:

Remove IT Policy - BlackBerryFAQ.com

Good Luck!

How easy is "very easy"? Is the process documented somewhere?

I had personal BlackBerrys on my company's BES for a few years. The company is forcing personally owned BBs off the BES and providing company-owned BBs in their place. I got mine a few weeks ago. Since I would like to sell my old 8800 (without the 15 minute password restrictions), I would love to get rid of the company's IT policy. Seeing this post, I contacted one of the BES guys and they had no clue how to send a blank IT Policy.

Just contact them, see if you can activate your old one on the BES, then have them send the default policy (hopefully they didn't edit that one.) Once it has received it, activate the new one again and have them send their regular policy back.
