Hello Everyone,

Question for you hard core techies around here. I use BB as a laptop / more like desktop computer replacement. Not to mention I also expect it to be my main lan line for phone communications as well. And I admit too it! I purchase the 200 Meg plan from Rogers and every month I hit just barely bellow the magic mark... I expect it to be a full functioning computer I have almost every application you would have on an equilant PC... But

The problem I am running into is every device is landing up needing to be replaced under warranty due to issues... I have spoken to a number of higher up's with Rogers and they say the device should be able to handle this.... I am starting to wonder...

Am I expecting too much from these little devices?

thanks for the advice,

Josh

why do you have to replace the devices? as in what problems did they have? i use way over 200mb a month of data, and many apps installed on my curve and never had it replaced.

This device here was an error 523. And then it corrupted it boot files according to Rogers. The one previous was just plain old strange would loose emails randomly power off... (memory leak) F

Usually the problems starts out with the Emails not coming. Or loosing network connectivity. And then from there it all goes down hill.

I mean the list just goes on and on, I don't get it...

The other question I have is if I don't call rogers back to tomorrow to arrange a new device how long will the note from Tech support be good for. I have a friend who is a cell site tech for one of the cell phone companies... I wonder if it's worth asking him if he can help me setup everything.. But That would buying some time....

Thanks

josh

well the memory issue can be fixed, same with the 523 error. These arent faulty at all. Search the bbfaq link at the top and this site and you will find answers to those issues

So in other words maybe it's rogers just taking the cheap root out... Instead of trying to help me find the root of the problems they are just deciding to replace the devices.

Hmm thanks for the food for thought.. I am going to look at the FAQ right now and see if I can fix these issue and do what Rogers says is impossible.

Well after a quick read through the FAQ I think I'm the problem not the Blackberry... I'm breaking almost every rule there is in there... I think I need to change my user habits and maybe my BB troubles will go away...

Thanks

josh

I am going to reload it with just the basic APP's I use all the time and see if I can figure out if maybe on of the App's is the issue. I run a ton of un-supported software...

At this point I have already lost my address book and all so I really have nothing to loose at this point.

Hmmm Looks like Rogers has no idea what there talking about. After looking around the FAQ a bunch a found a solution to most of the problems I've been having.... Maybe I should start using these forums for tech support instead. That being said I work in IT for a small company and deal with BB's all day... (this is my personal my device office is not with Rogers) I hope my boss isn't reading this thread. :(

Looks like desktop manager 4.3 might have been causing some of my issues as well... Went back to the latest version of 4.2 and it seems to have helped it as well....
