Default Can't sync curve with outlook under vista

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys,

I've read the various vista/outlook posts and had no luck so far syncing outlook, it does not appear as one of the applications to sync with in the sync application list (for example when I click address book and select setup, I have ascii or yahoo as options)

1) Curve 8320
2) V4.2.2.180
3) Vista home premium
4) MS Outlook 2007 (exchange account)
5) BDM 4.3.0.15

What I've done

1) Installed with desktop redirector
2) removed and installed with "internet email"
3) removed and installed the old BDM that came with the curve
4) removed, cleaned registry and installed BDM 4.3.0.15 with "internet email"

The only thing that appears to change is when I setup with "internet email" I see outlook EXPRESS appear in the options for address book, but not much use since I use outlook 2007

I really need to get my contacts on this thing never mind read email and so far nada. Anyone got any great insights into this frustrating issue.

Default outlook 2007 on vista synch - I have the same problem

I have the same problem - I have:
- outlook 2007
- vista
- Curve 8310

I have been thru various versions of desktop manager, but have been told that only version 4.3 supports outlook 2007/vista.

I also only have the configuration options of ascii and yahoo.

I have not selected redirector, my understanding this is only if I want to wirelessly synch email and contacts. I only want to synch by usb.

I've spent hours searching this forum, blackberry.com and the web.

Very frustrating, I did not anticipate having any problem, I used to synch outlook 2007 to my pallm700w no problem.

Just set it up with BDM 4.2 SP2 with XP and outlook 2003, worked fine using a USB cable.

Hope RIM figure out the vista/outlook 2007 issues soon.

I have an 8830, desktop manager 4.3.015, vista home premium, and outlook 2007. I don't have any problem syncing my bb with outlook. Does it have to do with curve vs 8830?

The difference here is that I am not using microsoft exchange, just outlook 2007. Are you set up as an enterprsie edition or internet edition?

I am trying to call Blackberry to use their $49 support service, so far just been put on hold forever.

is outlook 2007 set as the default email client in Vista?

I have Vista, Outlook 2007, BB 8320, 4.3DM but only done a couple of backup/restores and haven't had any issues, never synced it though.

I could not get the BB desktop software installed on my wife's Vista laptop. That and a few other issues led me to install XP.

Default sync with pearl 8130 a no go

The Pearl 8130 does not sync with Outlook Express - only Outlook. A huge pain - since I was told my the Bell store that it would sync...would updating the firmware do the trick? (Our IT guy a work suggested that.) The BB software installed OK on the Vista laptop - but it doesn't come with Outlook, only Outlook Expfress.

Yes, outlook is set as default mail client. I'm suspicious that its because i'm using exchange with the desktop redirector, works fine on XP but not on vista. I bet those its *working* for don't use exchange but POP/SMTP. backup/restore works fine, its sync that fails.

Cheers,
Grant

I have Vista 64-bit, Outlook 2007, Desktop Manager 4.2.2.14. I sync both with USB and Bluetooth. No problems. Not like I did with WM5 and Windows Mobile Device Center. I do not use Exchange.

I did this last night, uninstalled the desktop manager and then reinstalled it. Works fine, Vista 32-bit ultimate, 4.3 desktop manager. I was told by a microsoft person to use 32-bit because i have 2gb ram, he said if i had 4gb he would use 64-bit. Not sure if that may be a problem also, I'm not a computer guru but he does work for microsoft and got me vista cheap.
